Think I have an empty battery casing, but no cells or PCB board.

That was quick. Sold! Due to an upcoming move, I'm selling my restored ThinkPad 701c. The casing is in fair condition from its age. The entire machine has been taken apart and cleaned thoroughly. You have a history of backups for any important files, right? Right? :mrgreen: AFAIK the new-generation office files (docx, xlsx, etc.) are natively compressed, basically xml files inside zip containers. If your client relies on such an exotic piece of old software, then carrying a "one-trick-pony laptop" is a reasonable price to pay, I would say. :roll: Several things come to mind: It may be possible, although unlikely, that the software actually works in the DOSBox emulator with some kind of paral...

How "as is" are we talking about? Still inside the UltraBay adapter: so you basically need an UltraBay dock. I haven't seen any hotswappable PATA UltraBay docks anywhere. Haven't seen any hotswappable SATA UltraBay docks either, but it looks like SATA UltraBay devices have the same slimline SATA con...

Re: For any Excel gurus out there

Try this formula:

Code: Select all

INDIRECT("Sheet1!C" & (ROUNDDOWN(ROW()-1 / 3) + 1))
This should give you the contents of Sheet1!C1 when placed in rows 1-3, Sheet1!C2 when in rows 4-6, etc.

Although I must say using Excel to generate scripts is slightly weird. :roll:

It's best to find the original antennas made for your model. Try eBay, perhaps order an entire LCD back cover with antennas still attached if you can't find individual antennas. Any metal / conductive object near an antenna changes its resonant frequency, so the stock antennas are tuned to perform b...

If you have a spare (or 2), set the two next to one another and cut off the difference from the 'tall' one. Turns out it takes a bit more than that. Apart from cutting the side wall shorter, the corner standoffs inside the hole must be removed as well so that the cap actually sit low enough and doe...

A quick search indicates that the NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 (R7000) is supported by DD-WRT. http://dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/DD-WRT_on_R7000 On the other hand, the stock firmware of R7000 seems to be feature-rich, performs better on certain fronts (NAT) than DD-WRT because of proprietary drivers, and...

I've been using a T440s for work lately. What kind of resolution and refresh rate are you looking to push? The general consensus seems to be that a GTX 960 is sufficient for 1080p60, 970 / above for higher resolutions.

I have a GTX 960 2GB, and it runs Metal Gear Solid V very well with max settings at 1080p 60fps.

Yes, it's a smart card reader. Your bigger problem is that you cannot upgrade from 32-bit Win7 to 64-bit anything. If you really want to use 64-bit Win8 you have to do a fresh install.

Re: Is it possible to put a 256GB SSD in a T60P? If yes, which ones are compatible?

A T60p should perform quite well with simple word processing and email usage. However, it would struggle with heavy webpages especially with Flash, or 1080p video playback.

Windows 7 is proven to work well. I haven't tried personally, but there seems to be success stories of Windows 8 as well.
