Ubuntu Touch Pad T60 issue
All of a sudden on my Ubuntu 11.10 distro, when hovering my cursor over links or fill out sections it will auto select or click the links. I went into settings and even turned off the touchpad clicking.
Any ideas?

Re: Ubuntu 11.10 on T60 T7300
Thanks for the input Zaz. I'll have some cross-comparisons soon.ZaZ wrote:I'm running 11.10 on my R60e with a Intel G2 drive. It feels like my fastest machine, booting in seven seconds. I was running Mint on it, but had some issues with it, which I can't remember right now. 11.10 has given me no trouble.

If I were you I would download the ISO for the Linux distro of your choice and take it for a test drive. Go to the linux communities also. They are very good as far as in depth knowledge and assistance with all things linux. I usually frequent the Ubuntu Forms when I have questions. Crunchbang Linu...

If you want to stay with XP, just get a newer/faster conventional hard drive.
thanks a bunch

thanks, right 64MB dedicated.RealBlackStuff wrote:See my first post!
Your ATI Radeon X1300 only has 64MB videoRAM.
The others are mentioned there as well.
Don't know where you get 512MB RAM from.
These GPUs are not upgradable with more RAM.

Re: Ubuntu 11.10 on T60 T7300
\ Also I think you mean a T7200 and not a T7300 as in your title as this is the correct CPU for a T60 - :D Peak, Yes thank you, T7200 and not T7300. Thanks for the input, I've been doing a lot of reading and I'm weighing my options. Might end up going Linux Mint....sort of begrudged by their use of...

@ajkula66 Graphics: ATI Radeon x1300 512mb (is this the standard card you warned about? Upgrade options?) @Dr_ST, Specs: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T7200 @ 2.00GHz (is this the best I can do?) 2.00GHz, 2.00GB of Ram (will be 3 or 4 still up for debate) OS: Using XP Prof Service Pack 2 (Upgrading to 7 or...

Re: T60P Memory
This has been discussed a lot and there are various misconceptions here. I don't mind repeating myself and others from time to time, so here goes: :) First, I'd like to point out that it _is_ a chipset issue. The 32bit memory controller in the Mobile 945 chipset is only capable of addressing 4GB. S...

Just my $.02. BMWman, thanks for all the feedback, I'm gonna give this Ubuntu or Linux Mint a go and see what problems arise. The controller issue is something I'm familiar with...we'll see how it goes. as for the frame, still pretty fit at this point although picking up a spare side wouldnt be a b...

Re: T60P Memory
hello beast.... a few examples would be nice to see.. AND, welcome to the forum.. Thanks, it's been a great 24 hours, not contentious at all... Intel 945 Chipset that is in the T60s is not capable of addressing more than 3GB. While the same 945 in Dell's and HP's can detect it. This isn't a chipset...

Re: T60P Memory
That's a load of BS. Installing 2+2GB will make the RAM run in Dual Channel mode, ca. 5% faster than the same type RAM in 2+1GB, which would run in Single Channel mode. That only 3GB is 'seen' is a well known fact and a hardware limitation of the T60. The real-world performance boost of symmetric m...

It's pointless trying to upgrade a machine if you are going to run Ubuntu on it. Dear Resident Forum Grump, Thanks, sorry about the post if it's a common one. I should have looked first, was initially really excited about this forum so I posted away. Regarding upgrading being pointless if running U...

Ubuntu 11.10 on T60 T7300
two fold question:
I'm thinking of upgrading my T60 with a SSD Crucial m4 CT128M4SSD2 128GB.
Will there be any issues with the current release of Ubuntu?
Also any recommendations on a new cpu to replace the 2.0 ghz meron or is that fine to run Ubuntu?

Re: T60P Memory
from what I know on this topic is that the T60has 32 bit os and 32 bit does not support 4gb of memory even if installed.
Your best bet in my estimation is to use 1gb + 2gb. I have heard of errors, also you wont't be utilizing the extra 1gb of memory.

T60 T7200 (2.0GHz) Upgrade Questions
Hello all, I'm new to these forums and looking for a little discussion/help. I recently purchased a T60 T7200 off of ebay for the insanely low price of $135. The T60 was purchased with the standard hardware given at distribution. I should say, that I am in love with this models external feel and app...
