I am comfortable with 100% scaling at 14" FHD; would be more comfortable with 125%, but keep it at 100% to avoid blurriness issues when going between different external screen setups.
The only computer I have with more than one screen is my desktop, which has two identical LCDs.

Re: Lenovo CES 2019

That was at native resolution. Eventually, I bumped it up to 125 scaling to make it easier on the eyes, but that kind of made it like 1600x900 screen.

Re: Lenovo CES 2019

While I can use a 14" 1080 screen at native resolution for a while, fatigue sets in pretty quick. I like the 17" FHD screen I had, but 6.5 pounds is too heavy for a portable notebook in 2019. I'm hoping FHD on a 15" strikes a nice balance.

Re: Dell to release a new XPS 15 model with a 4K OLED panel in March

Will they have better luck than Lenovo with OLED? The OLEDs did not last long in ThinkPads, they quickly developed tearing and other problems needing multiple replacements, they all suffer from it, to a scale like the historical T410s vertical bands problem. As always with new technology, it offers...

Re: POLL: What's your favorite resolution for desktop monitors?

I liked the UXGA screens. The one portrait mode was just above my line of sight, which made it easy to use. My biggest issue with them was the dimming. Had they been LED screens, I'd probably still be using them and saved myself $425. Previous to getting the UXGAs, my monitor was a 19" tube running ...

Re: POLL: What's your favorite resolution for desktop monitors?

Since like 2006, I've had a pair of Dell 20” UXGA monitors atop my desktop. I run one in portrait mode or 1200x1600, which is good for internet and office, but they had seemed to have dimmed a bit since I bought them in 2012 due to the bulb technology in them. I happened to find a pair of Dell 25” W...

Yes, I'd love to have a trackpoint for my 17" notebook. I'm not into paying much more than $500 for a notebook these days, so the Gram would be out for me, but sub three pounds on a 17" notebook is pretty amazing.

Re: USB recovery media to DVD??

Alternatively, you can download a Windows 10 disc from Microsoft and do it the old fashioned way, presuming you've got an optical drive. Then just run Windows Update. It's more time consuming, but you could pick the stuff your like and leave off the stuff you don't.

why would Lenovo put such junk in the X200s(the higher end machine?)
Cause some customers want the lowest price, so using a Celeron helps shave money off the price.

Laptop screen is probably going to sell you a compatible screen, not a genuine Lenovo part, so I'd stay away from them. I'd post here in the marketplace forum that you're looking for a screen. It's been a while since I've done a screen replacement, but off the top of my head, I'm not sure going to a...

Re-seating the cable doesn't cost anything and wasn't in your list of everything you tried. I would hook it to an external screen to see if that flies before spending money on a new screen.

Re: Is the 1440x900 TN's viewing angle as bad as the 1280x800 ones in an X201?

If I recall correctly, the X201 used LED LCDs(they switched to LED midway through the X200 run), so if you plan to do the more popular AFFS mod, you'll need to swap in a cable and inverter from the X200 that used the CFFL screen being that AFFS Hydis screen uses a CFFL bulb for backlighting. I have ...

Re: Where to buy laptop hard drives?

What's wrong with eBay? You'll probably pay less there and you've essentially got a 45 day warranty. If the drive fails in the first 45 days, you can dispute and the chances you'll lose is almost zero. If lasts that long, the chances you'll have a problem down the road are pretty low.

The T series is unusual in that it uses soldered memory, but the soldered CPU is pretty typical these days, particularly in the thin and light segment.

I had tried later Thinkpads and felt that Lenovo had made them worse instead of better. How so? At least with a newer ThinkPad you'll get the option of a better IPS screen, which were not an option in the T420/T430 era. I'd call that improved, but the T420 and T430 will work well as long as you're ...

Re: What is the 14 inch, and 15.x inch sibling of x230?

So the X220 keyboard was the greatest and sadly missed ? That's subjective of course. I think my favorite ThinkPad keyboard was my 14" R60, but the screen on it was terrible, so you can't have it all I guess. A lot of long time ThinkPadders miss the old school keyboard. Not because it was a chiclet...
