Re: What does "Rogue-2" mean in this X240s parts list?

Its just the internal code-name of the machine.

The X230s was Rogue 1.

Re: Have you joined the 3:2 club yet?

Let's say the Retro Thinkpad uses 3:2 and is perfect in all other ways, but it's released when 3:2 is not yet the industry standard. You won't buy it? That's what I was questioning you about. If its perfect for me and if its affordable enough, of course. But then I would buy it regardless of the sc...

Re: Have you joined the 3:2 club yet?

Huh? If 3:2 is useful to you, why does it matter how many others are also using 3:2? You feel more comfortable being a follower than a trendsetter? For me 3:2 would likely be as useful on a 15" Notebook as 16:9 is. With a 15,6" 4K screen, I can be pretty productive as it is. Aesthetically 3:2 might...

Re: Have you joined the 3:2 club yet?

No and I don´t think I will buy a 3:2 device until it (maybe) becomes the industry standard. I have little interest in tablets and there are not many 3:2 notebooks. And the 3:2 notebooks that do exist are not made for me. If there would be a 15" Workstation laptop with 3:2, maybe I would buy one. Bu...

Re: The almighty Blue Enter key?

I think it was a design element introduced as a nod to IBMs company color blue. After all, IBM is "Big Blue".

Lenovo isn´t "Big Blue" and my guess is that they wanted to make the design look more modern. So they changed it back to black with the Tx30 models.

Re: Reasons why the 14" screen got terrible options.

You are thinking only in terms of Thinkpads. The situation was exactly the same for consumer-grade laptops made by Sony, Dell, Toshiba etc. for home users. Though their 15" panels weren't necessarily IPS, those panels were consistently better than the 14" panels used by these manufacturers. Its not...

Re: Reasons why the 14" screen got terrible options.

Why did 14" models get worse screen? I think the answer is pretty simple: It wasn´t seen as necessary. 12" systems were also available as convertibles, which required better screens (especially when it comes to viewing angles), so better 12" screens had to be produced. For 15" on the other hand, the...

Re: Microsoft Paint to be killed off after 32 years

Which actually means everything opposite to 'it will stay'. AFAIK, Windows Store does not serve desktop apps, which means that Paint will be rewritten as 'Universal UI' app, which means it will not stay the same. How different? Time will tell. Old information. The Windows Store does serve desktop a...

Re: Microsoft Paint to be killed off after 32 years

Its apparently not going to be killed off immediately, but its development has been killed.

Microsoft has included a new Paint 3D app in Windows 10. I believe they want to concentrate on that app in the future, which can also be used for basic screenshots/cropping functionality.

Re: What to replace W530?

As for new systems, a P50 or P51 would be an great replacement of the W530. I use a P51 as my main machine and I love it - wonderful keyboard, quality 4K screen, solid-as-a-rock build. I can only recommend it, if you have the funds to acquire one, of course.

Re: Thinkpadders Rejoice (*LARGE PICS*)

They are apparently using C-grade quality screen of the Microsoft Surface Book production, if you look at brightness distribution and sRGB values. In other words, they are using the trash of the production that Microsoft doesn´t want. This doesn´t matter. HP, Dell, Lenovo, if one of those manufactur...

Re: xx50+ Trackpoint buttons are annoying to me, do you notice it?

Its not Tx50 and later. Its just Tx50 and later models who still use the Tx50 design. Newer models that have been redesigned use the older TrackPoint button design. This was a design necessity with the Tx50 models, because the new TrackPoint-buttons had to fit into the space formerly occupied by the...

Re: Lenovo contnues in the IBM tradition of strange laptop builds

The reason is that the P51s is based on the T570. The only real difference is the Quadro GPU instead of the GeForce. T570 is using U-CPUs only and so is the P51s, because incorporating HQ-CPUs in that chassis would require major design-changes. T470p on the other hand is specifically made as a Quad-...
