Re: R51 - power management

Thanks for the help all. I've come into another issue. No matter what I instal, I'm unable to use the fn key to turn off the wireless radio. If it is installed and the radio works, the power management app says the thinkpad wireless driver needs updated. If the radio driver is not installed, it says...

Re: R51 - power management

Indeed. I have one drive with a working install, but I'm trying to build a new one. With no bios settings changed, the working install works, but anything I do on the new one does not. On the working one, it seems there is "Thinkpad Power Management v 1.43". I have downloaded that via google, instal...

R51 - power management

Hello. I'm trying to install windows on my R51 on another drive. It is a bit hit and miss getting the drivers, but now I'm only missing one; the power management one. I have tried every driver listed here http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=migr-55029 But none have the power mana...

When the computer is booting, spam press F12 until it enters set up.
Then pres the arrow down a few times to highlight setup, and press enter.

Re: 600x goes through cmos quickly

If your main battery is dead, and AC is disconnected, then yes a weak CMOS battery will not last very long. Do you have any way of telling how old your "new" CMOS battery is? Well, I bought it at a drugstore before I put it in.. I do not have a main battery at all for the machine. I hallowed out th...

600x goes through cmos quickly

When I first got my 600x, the cmos was dead. I replaced it with a brand new cr2035, and it worked fine. Now, it seems that whenever I have it unpluged for more than a few moments, the date and time reset Is the 600x known to go through the cmos batteries so quickly like that? It couldn't have been m...

You might be better off going on newegg, ebay, or craigslist. 7mm 2.5in sata drives aren't very rare or hard to find

Re: Harddrive from a dead Thinkpad 770 - what USB adapter to use

A bios password isn't the kind of password that would lock the hard drive. Power on passwords would prevent the machine from booting at all bios/adin passwords only prevent accessing/modifying the bios (depends on the machine) hdd passwords prevent the disk from being read or written to, and in many...

Re: T530 adding a 2nd hard drive question.

With a T530, you should have an empty msata slot under the keyboard you can put a SSD in.
It is only sata2 speed, so it won't be as fast as a sata3 ssd, but it is very good as a system cache

Re: 750C possible HDD password?

HDD passwords can't be cracked. As it is the HDD password, the drive is a paperweight now.

Assuming there is no bios password, putting a new hdd in would solve the problem

Re: 3 disks on W520.

By programs, you'd benifit the most by putting windows on the SSD.. But it all depends how much you want to spend on an SSD. 64GB is very marginal for a boot drive, and anything less is near impossible to put windows on. I'd understand if you wanted to put programs on a 4-16gb ssd, though

I wouldn't reccomend anything less then 4GB when running vista 7 or 8.
XP is marginal with 1GB

Unless you are going to be putting in a 128gb msata, sata2 is by far good enough. They are intended for cache memory, afterall.

Considering Lenovo advertises that it has a msata connector, a main sata connector, and an optional drive in the optional adapter, one could only assume that it is posible.

Indeed, older computers are awesome for older programs. I have a P3 desktop that I am keeping around just incase I ever want to play some old old games that won't work under a virtual xp/98 install, though lack of a LCD really hinders any plans I have for it. Also I've never tried to put 98 on it. T...

Re: going from RAID1 to JBOD

You are trying to get the data off the disks, right?
I'd try the good old USB-sata dock, just a regular one, no fancy dock.
IF that fails, plug it right in to your board via internal sata or esata
