Difficulties in opening the case of X40 to insert an mSATA to IDE 3.3V adapter

Hi, Now, we can find on the market 1.8 IDE cases to insert an mSATA SSD inside the X40: http://www.ebay.com/itm/321762518210 http://www.ebay.com/itm/321637449167 But one year ago, they were not available, so that I purchased a simple adapter without enclosure: http://www.ebay.com/itm/261236667153 Th...

Restore X220 from vhd files when no partitions

Hi, I have to restore an ThinkPad X220 (most probably buyed in the US) after a mechanical hard disk crash. The customer had burnt a repair CD, and done two .vhd image backups. The first VHD file is 348 MB and the second one of 199 GB. From the partitions I assume it was in GPT and the first partitio...

Detailed specifications from new Lenovo support site ?

Hi, On Lenovo's website, I was used to enter the type number of previous ThinkPad models to get the details specifications. I'm very upset by the way that Lenovo changed their support site this year as I can't anymore find a way to enter the laptop type (for instance 2007-GAG), but only the model (f...

Hello, Thanks to both of you. @automobus: Where do you see that the seller from the first link mark things private ? @RealBlackStuff: Thank you for the interesting link. Need advice to choose mSATA adapter for SSD on X41 Tablet

Hi, I'm planning to make faster a X41 Tablet (Type 1869) by using a SSD. After several readings, I chose using an mSata SSD (Crucial M4) with an adapter. On the forum and some other places is suggested to use an mSATA to IDE 44 pin 1.8'' adapter, in its 3.3 V variant. I assume the SSD drive, mounted...

When you have a valid licence it's sad to be obliged buying a new one. It seem possible to deploy XP Tablet PC Edition from Windows XP SP2 CD if the licence is a Windows XP Tablet PC Edition. Looking for X41 recovery CD (French) or any alternative

Hi, I'm looking for a Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005 recovery CD for the ThinkPad X41 Tablet, if possible in French. The FRU of recovery CDs for the X41 Tablet start with either "42J" or "39K". The FRUs for the French version are: 42J8382 (newer), 39K9755 (older), 39K8952 (older). Any alternative li...

Installing the driver 77wc38ww.exe from the link provided by RealBlackStuff worked like a charm.
The PHILIPS a/b/g WLAN card (Atheros) is now recognized. :D

I experienced the problem with several Thinkpad T43, indifferently 14 and 15 inches. Like Vonfeffer, I have to remove the power supply, as well as the battery. I assume that the problem comes from the Intel chip located below the touchpad, as both the touchpad and the bottom side of the laptop are h...

I cannot see it in the Hardware Maintenance manual.

Temperatures for several tin/lead and lead-free solders are given here:

Hi guys, Thanks for this very interesting thread. I think the culprit is either the GPU or the touchpad. So, I unmounted the wireless card (although I need it). One issue was were ...

WPA2 encryption only comes with the Service Pack 3 of Windows XP. Maybe does your Windows installation only use Service Pack 1 or 2.
