Re: Thinkpad X390 Thermalpad for M.2 SSD - Please Help....

According to the X390 HMM, the short M.2 SSD also has a bracket that needs to be removed as well. The long M.2 SSD goes in without bracket. Excellent. I looked at the x390 HMM and found where it's discussed. Many thanks for that. So the last question is, do I just need to add an additional thermal ...

Thinkpad X390 Thermalpad for M.2 SSD - Please Help....

Hi TP Forum - I'm admittedly a long time looker and not much of a poster. I'm a longtime TP user (since 1998) and I'm running into a problem that I can't figure out. I just purchased a new/refurbished X390 with 32 GB RAM but with a 128 SSD HD. I had Crucial run a system scan and I purchased a Crucia...

Need guidance with W7 Authentication Key

Please don't flame the author, but it would appear that I've gotten myself into a jam and I'm running out of places to go for help..... My wife's T400 just had it's HD replaced by the tech support person who does work in my office. He reloaded W7 Home Edition just as it originally came when bought n...

Re: ThinkPad X240s

^^^^ I built one online on 10/23 and IIRC the ship date was either 11/5 or 11/10, 2013. FWIW I built it with the 1TB HD.

Re: ThinkPad X240s

^^^^^ I don't pretend to know more than the regulars on the forum. I'm no techie - I'm merely a long-time TP lover and user. I buy and use my Thinkpads for 6 years or so before replacing them. Need a new battery - just buy and swap. I don't like the idea that one would need to watch a video on how t...

Re: ThinkPad X240s

So if I understand where Lenovo is taking this, there's only one DIMM slot for 8GB max, which means the system is pretty much already obsolete even before it's released. And for those who do some serious traveling, they might be FUBAR if one of their batteries craps out while they're on the road? An...

Next Generation X Series: Any updates on its release.....?

My 2007 (bought new) X60s is really starting to show its age. It's a trooper, but it's time for a new thinkpad. I know a thread has already been started on the subject of the new generation, but with the news of an upcoming new X series brought to light back in March, '13, I was hoping it would have...

T400 memory upgrade

It appears my wife's T400 has BIOS version 2.16 with a date of 4/22/2009. It looks like Lenovo posted version 3.23/3.24 for W7 64 bit in December, 2011. Is it safe to update from where I am currently? I've never done a BIOS update before but have read some horror stories from some after having done ...

T400 memory upgrade

Subscribed. I was looking at the same RAM upgrade for my wife's T400 this afternoon. Unfortunately I'm too green to know why the bios would need to be upgraded. Doesn't the machine just recognize the new RAM upon start-up?

LF: TP X60s

My main workhorse is a now 5year old X60s that is really starting to show its age. I'm looking to buy a replacement X60s in near mint/mint condition, should one even exist. If you have one that you're looking to part-ways with, please let me know.

LF: OEM Thinkpad T40 Battery

As the title says, I'm trying to bring a clean T40 back to life, but my battery is toast (works but won't charge). Regular or extended battery is fine so long as current cycle count has some life left. I don't believe IBM/Lenovo still sells this battery.

MS Outlook settings for iPhone on T400 - Need some help.....

While I know the TP model really isn't important, I'm having trouble setting MS Outlook to accept and syc calendar and contacts with my wife's iPhone 3GS on her T400. I have an iPhone 4 and have no issues syncing with MS Outlook on my X60s, but I had MS set it up for me years ago and have zero idea ...

Re: Newbie needs help with a T40 "rebuild"

Thanks everyone for the replies. FWIW, I posted a LF in the Marketplace section (any comments on the post, please feel free to let me know). I may also give Microsoft and/or Lenovo a call this week to see if they still have/sell the disks, but I don't think that will get me anywhere.

Newbie needs help with a T40 "rebuild"

Hello to the forum.....Long time lurker - first time poster... I have an old T40 whose HD crashed a couple years ago. Thinking that it would take more $$ than it was worth, I put it away and bought my wife a then new T400. After reading many threads here (thank you...thank you...thank you...), I'm t...
