That is correct. There are no XGA with direct-bonding.
I'm glad to be wrong then.

In any case, the cable adapter is the most important piece. Because modding a flex cable is well beyond my skill level. :O

Re: Giving some love to my X61

Bad news, I was planning to do this instead of an SXGA+ transplant - I thought transplanting an XGA Tablet screen to a non-tablet would be easier than a SXGA+, but it sounds equally difficult? If you already have the cable adapter, the next difficult parts are: 1. separating the protective glass fr...

Not sure about that.

Did you monitor the CPU utilization? Maybe it's one of the drivers, or Windows 10's automatic update running in the background.

Re: Finding a high resolution T61 with intel graphics?

Hmm, interesting. Do you know what determines the resolution? The Chipset or the display? Will the system just display the highest resolution that the LCD panel can support? (i.e. The LCD telling the chipset via ID what resolution it natively supports?) It's the LCD. It uses EDID (Extended Display ...

Re: X1C3 review by former X61S user

Mplayer doesn't do extraneous stuff like javascript unlike a web browser, so it's much lighter on resources. Also, CPU utilization depends on the bitrate and other encoding settings in addition to the picture size/resolution (720p vs 1080p). I've been testing video files of varying bitrates and reso...

Re: X1C3 review by former X61S user

95% CPU utilization is normal for 1080p video on the X61s, especially with the additional overhead from the web browser.

The only video decode acceleration option (Broadcom CrystalHD BCM970015) doesn't have software support in Chrome (and probably other browsers as well).

Re: T61 motherboard in dead T61p

Transplanting the lid is much faster, as you don't have to remove the roll cage/structure frame.

Also, I suggest keeping the T8100 on your working T61 rather than getting the T7500, as the clock speed difference is negligible (100MHz).

Re: T420s Vs T430 Fan noise

Wow. Don't cut up or damage anything else! :D I would imagine the 3 vs 4 wire PWM fan is almost certainly the issue. The pulses are used to measure/adjust the speed of the fan. 4 wire fans work a little different to the 3 wire so its possible you're getting a weird signal that is causing the fan to...

19v might not work. The HMMs specify an allowable voltage range of 19.5v to 21v at the DC input jack.

You will not be able to use a PCIe card on the WWAN slot, as only the USB (for the WWAN card) and SATA (for the mSATA SSD) signals are wired to the connector. This means you'll have to use a half-size card.

Re: X220 partially dead yellow USB port, dead SD card

I can think of 2 possibilities:

1. Dirty contacts on the USB port (same for SD card reader)
2. ESD damage

Why not remove the vinyl? You can put it back later and if you end up tearing it, you can use Kapton tape.

Upgrading the CPU will generally not cause an issue--Windows will detect the new CPU and configure itself (you'll need a reboot though).

Unless
Your WIndows is a 64-bit version and you replaced the Core 2 Duo T5500 with a 32-bit processor like the Core Duo T2400.

Re: T430: Any disadvantage to using mSATA SSD besides slightly slower OS launch?

Our X250 had a small capacity mSATA and a 2.5" SATA HDD. The X250 has an M.2 slot, not mSATA. But yeah, they usually come with puny 16GB SSDs. What's frustrating is that its M.2 slot only fits the short 2242 (22mm x 42mm) instead of the longer 2280 (22mm x 80mm) size cards. The latter is the more c...

Yes.
"SLIC Toolkit 3.2" checks the SLIC table, and also the Certificate file and Product key. I use it to back up the Cert and product key prior to reformatting or performing a clean install.

T440, but it uses the smaller 2242 (22mm x 42mm) rather than the usual 2280 (22mm x 80mm) size M.2 SSDs.
