I just need to come up with an ingenious way to fill the 2.5cm excess height, then this would be a nice screen for a 14" T70. :/
Maybe a 3D-printed bezel? 2.5cm is quite a lot of space though. Even shoehorning a webcam with a sliding cover won't take up much space.

If lubricating the fan doesn't work (I've done it successfully in 2 X61's), you need to replace it.

There's a version of the Lenovo N22 with Windows 8.1 preinstalled. The biggest issue is that both storage and RAM are embedded in the system board, so upgrades are impossible.

"Lifetime warranty" may mean "warranty during the product's lifetime" AKA "while we still manufacture them/offer them on our web store".

If you still have the A21p, get the model # of the screen from the label at the back of the panel, then search for its datasheet.

Mechanical Thinkpad keyboards... seem like something that belongs on the P70. Actually might be pretty good.
Like the Tex Yoda, but with all 104 keys? Or just the 87 keys + Fn + volume/mic buttons?

Another solution is the tmk keyboard firmware with an Atmel microcontroller. El-Sahef used this combination for his 600X core i mods. That happens to all my machines, as I always key the touchpad disabled in the BIOS. :) I keep mine enabled in the BIOS, but disabled in Windows and Linux. Re: ThinkPad T23 Arrival

The USB 1.1 ports on the T23 are connected to the ICH3 southbridge, which has a 266 megabyte/sec link with the 830M northbridge chip. The bottleneck is definitely the USB 1.1 port.

Re: Thinkpad T60 Backlight Keyboard Help

1. Good luck jamming in a LED strip and still get the keys to depress fully.
2. Try the "cheese hole" T400 keyboard. Since it has holes underneath, maybe you can shine the lights from under the keyboard.
3. Don't mess with the magnesium frame, you might compromise its rigidity.

Of course USB 1.1 severely limits wifi performance-- its bandwidth is 12 megabits per second-- for comparison, Wifi-G is 54 megabts per second.

Have you installed the Configuration Utility? IIRC old models like the 600 need this program to enable/disable devices like the PCMCIA/Cardbus slots, serial/parallel/IR ports, etc.

The Butterfly keyboard extends almost an inch from each side. The X61 is around 10.5 inches wide. a Butterfly would only extend h...

12.5 widescreen can fit a full-size keyboard (X220 anyone?).

The 701C was slightly less than 10 inches wide.

Good to hear. I've only seen a 570* once (didn't even get to use it), and the extent of my T4x experience is but a single dead T42 which i revived with an R52 board, and subsequently gifted to a friend.
