I prefer to keep my own copy, thank you.
I've seen some webarchived pages with missing images (what if it's a schematic or something similarly important).

Re: R60+ATI+T7200 runs hot

No, you don't! That compressed air is too strong to use directly aimed at the fan, it can make the fan turn faster than normal, and if the fan blows in the wrong direction, it may wreck it! Put a toothpick or similar in your fan to stop it from turning, before you use compressed air to clean it. Ex...

Already tried that. Intel's Display controls only show 59Hz and 60Hz for the external monitor. Tried both, problem persists.
Even tried a custom modeline, no dice.

Re: X220 Displayport issue in Windows but not in Linux

If your laptop sends a 50Hz signal to a 60Hz monitor that expects a 60Hz signal, where do you think the problem is? Does it output 50Hz even when in BIOS setup? I had the charger plugged in and the battery installed. I set the ff BIOS settings: Primary output is "Displayport in Thinkpad" Max perfor...

My issue is with an external monitor, not the built-in display.

Perhaps I should post a video or something, just to show how bad it is. That'll have to wait until tomorrow though.

Is it exactly the same resolution / refresh rate? Yeah, I'm running the MX220W monitor at its native resolution of 1920x1200. Tried it at 59Hz and 60Hz. Even at lower resolutions I'm encountering the issue. :x Current suspects: 1. Monitor - don't have other Displayport monitors to test 2. cable - d...

Tried the monitor on my dad's X220, issue persists. I'm starting to think it's the monitor, but if that's the case, then I should be having problems even in Linux. But no, it works perfectly there. :? It might be an issue with the drivers, but I'm already using the latest Intel driver straight from ...

Update: Set "Displayport on Thinkpad" as primary output device in BIOS. Bootup sceen is messed up like in Windows. X220 Displayport issue in Windows but not in Linux

Recently bought a second-hand Eizo MX220W LCD monitor. It has three input ports: two DVI and one Displayport. It's plugged to my X220 via Displayport cable. On Linux it works without issues, but on Windows I can't get it to work properly. The display works for a second, then it jitters, then an inco...

axur-delmeria, what will you use a headless fanless portable computer for?? TBH I don't have a need for it. It's just one of the half-working things in my shelf. Re: T420s to fanless server project - cooling concerns

I am a little worried that the weight of the heatsink may shatter the CPU die and on a T420s you can't replace that. Good point, though I'm a bit skeptical about that happening. Remember the Pentium III desktop CPUs? While their heatsinks were light, the spring clips exert significant clamping forc...

Re: T420s to fanless server project - cooling concerns

Keep us updated! :D Is the aluminum block held on by just gravity and not secured to the system board with screws? That might be one reason the temps are high (though switching to copper is indeed preferable). You are using thermal paste on the aluminum pieces right? I'm a bit concerned with the hea...

Note that Nehalem and Clarksfield have an on-die memory controller, while Arrandale's is on a separate die along with the graphics unit. It's possible that Arrandale's memory controller is derived from the Core 2-era GM45.

Hmmm, but isn't the HD in the X61 and T61 a Serial ATA drive? I have the EIDE ultrabay caddy from my older T42p and it definitely won't accept the new hard drive. The Ultrabay Slim for the T4x/T6x and X4/X6 Ultrabases are indeed EIDE. The SATA HDD caddy for these models has an IDE to SATA bridge ch...
