Re: R60e IPS upgrade question

Those 15” sxga feel dim to me (dimmer than XGA) and then there’s the annoying jaundice the lg panels develop. Polarizer yellowing, or backlight ? Maybe a LED backlight mod ? Curious if the r60e celery can take a fast pentium M? I have a 2.26 dothan doing me no good, could basically make an R50 that...

Check the LCD cable FRU on your unit and compare it to the HMM parts listing. If you're lucky, the XGA and SXGA+ LCD cables are the same.

Welcome to the Thinkpads.com forum.

IMO it's best to keep it in one thread because you're basically working on a single project. You'll only need a new thread if you have a question that's very off-topic from the current one.

Re: NEW FHD IPS SCREEN FOR W540

IIRC it's best to upgrade to the same brand of touchpad--for example, if your W540 has a Synaptics touchpad, the replacement should also be Synaptics. I don't have a T440 (or any of that generation of Thinkpads as I absolutely hate the buttonless touchpad), but after reading the touchpad upgrade thr...

You can use AIDA64 to find out the exact brand and model of the LCDs in your T490 and T440. Then use your favorite web search engine to look for their datasheets. Using those datasheets, you can find out if they both have 30-pin connectors (they probably are) and if the connectors are in the same lo...

Every T430s system board will fit inside every T430s chassis. They're interchangeable in that way. IMO the only issue is if the new board has an nVidia GPU and your old board is Intel-only, which can be solved by buying the right heatsink. Note: the processor in the T430s is soldered to the system b...

Re: Windows 11 Support on AMD A9 processor?

I'd wager a half-decent reason: maintenance burden. Device manufacturers rarely update drivers for old hardware to work with new OSes-- for example, the older 3945ABG and 4965AGN causes BSODs on Windows 10 because their drivers were never updated by Intel.

I wonder how they achieved that. An integrated AHCI controller on the SSD board itself, I presume? Basically, the flash controller chip on the SSD also acts as the AHCI controller. The Sandisk A110 is an early M.2 PCIe SSD that interfaces via AHCI rather than NVMe. Same with the Plextor M6e . Accor...

Re: Upgrading drive in ThinkPad T510 to SSD

Save for the L470/T470p one, none of those "NVMe" to SATA adapters actually work on NVMe SSDs; the L470/T470p one only works because the connector on the system board contains both PCIe and SATA signals. M.2 is the physical form factor of the SSD, but M.2 SSDs can be SATA or NVMe . Actually there's ...

If you're looking for more oomph from the CPU AMD likely offers better value. Which starts from the T14 Gen 1 AMD. with Ryzen 4000U proessors (Zen 2 architecture). The Ryzen 3000U CPUs found in the T495 have a less-efficient implementation of AVX2 instructions compared to Intel 8th gen, so if OP's ...

That device simply routes the USB signals on the mini-PCIe slot to a Type-A USB port. If the mPCIe slot your your laptop has USB signals wired in (the WLAN slot on older models like the T60/T61 and X60/X61 don't) and have a USB flash drive than can physically fit in that adapter, then it will will w...
