it seems like Manjaro XFCE Edition (17.0.6) has ended 32 bit version for good. https://manjaro.org/2017/11/15/introducing-manjaro-32-a-32bit-community-linux-distro/ Thank you Try it! :D While I've never owned an X41, I did have an R52 (same generation as X41, with similar performance) for a short w...

Re: is there anyone who has installed a Linux into x41?

I've checked the website of Manjaro Linux and it seems that only the 64-bit version is available for download: https://manjaro.org/get-manjaro/

This means it won't run on your X41, as it has a 32-bit processor.

Re: volume and mute buttons not working after sddm reinstall

It looks like the program/daemon that monitors the volume controls is malfunctioning/not loading. I'm not familiar with the MATE desktop though (I use Debian with Xfce desktop), but the idea is to reinstall or reconfigure the package that performs that task. A quick search through Debian's package m...

Re: Can I connect my laptop that runs on 18.5V directly to a 12V battery?

No and no.

For Thinkpads, the acceptable voltage range is generally between 0.5 volts lower and 1.5 volts higher than the specified input voltage.

You need something like this: http://www.bixnet.com/dd120xc.html

I'm not running Windows at the moment, but it's usually in Power Manager. Once you set it to Advanced, you can see the settings of the different power profiles. There's a setting "Maximum CPU speed" or similar, If it's set to "Turbo" or "Max Turbo", change it to "Adaptive". https://zdnet3.cbsistatic...

Re: Starting an IBM ThinkPad Collecton on a Budget?

Sorry, I'm not entirely familiar with the IBM ThinkPad numbering schemes. I'm guessing "p" is for the IPS display, which isn't a necessity. A normal display (as long as it's readable most of the time) will suffice. No money to be picky. IIRC, the p is for Performance. These models usually have the ...

Re: Improving T60 cooling by cutting away plastic "lamellas/gills"

Making the plastic grille material thinner. But they did as well add some small intake vents below the fan too. So, what zoltan87 can do is: - get high-resolution images of the T61 bottom chassis and apply the changes (bigger vent holes, thinner grilles) on his T60, or - get a T61 bottom chassis an...

Re: Thinkpad X201, set up and tips?

TLP has a configuration file. Turbo Boost can be disabled there, somewhere. You need to open it in a text editor with root privileges in order to save changes. Read the documentation on the web site, or on the config file itself. To be honest, I haven't tried any modern versions of Gnome, KDE, or ev...

Re: Thinkpad X201, set up and tips?

2) For linux, installing tlp is recommended. Disabling Turbo Boost also helps. Another suggestion is installing powertop . 3) I'm a Debian XFCE user. Xubuntu is roughly comparable to it. IMO having a desktop environment with lower memory consumption is always better, regardless of whether you have 2...

For Windows, boot with "Automatic Restart on System Failure" disabled. So when the BSOD hits, the system will freeze and allow you to take a picture, which can help in narrowing down the cause of the issue.
