X230 Overheating

Why is my X230 overheating? I have it sitting on a hard surface so as to presumably allow air intake from beneath. It is hottest at the rear right corner. Hovering at 100C according to Speccy, even when under low to no RAM or CPU load. I'm away from home and don't have my toolkit with me...

Re: USB 3.0 X230 Win7 Problems

Here are the two "Other Devices" entries: https://i.imgur.com/R0vvMtm.png I downloaded the linked driver, and in the process of installing, was prompted with a dialog box asking if I wanted to write over the existing default installation directory, which already exists. I think this is the driver up...

USB 3.0 X230 Win7 Problems

I am the proud owner of an x230 (specs in sig) with version 2.73 BIOS. For the entire time I've owned my machine, it has never achieved file transfer speeds in keeping with reasonable USB 3.0 expectations when a USB 3.0 compatible device is connected to the blue USB 3.0 port. I think I did a driver ...

I have answered my own question. I can only hope that Xue Yao and his uncle will still be making and selling X330s by the time I'm ready to upgrade to one. What a beautiful project!

X230 Upgrade

Hello All, I have greatly enjoyed the durability and design of my eight-year-old X230 for the past several years, and while I hope to get more years out of it still, it is starting to show its age. I'm also starting to see software support go away for older OS builds, and feeling the unwelcome push ...

Re: WTB IPS Display for X230

Got a partial refund from the seller. I somehow missed any notification of replies here, so I went with the most solid Ebay listing I could find out of impatience/need for a screen. The first one was damaged, and now several weeks into a much belabored return/exchange/refund process, the replacement...

WTB IPS Display for X230

Just got swindled on FleaBay on an X230. Description said IPS, reality said otherwise.

I see plenty of standalone displays up for auction, but you know the saying; "fool me once..."

Many thanks in advance,

X230 Honesty Check

As the new owner of a used but very clean FleaBay X230 (I had an ad in the marketplace here for ages), I am doing a runthrough to confirm the advertised components are present in this machine. I just noticed that the seller removed the Model/Serial sticker from the bottom of the machine and, curious...

WTB: X230 i7-3520M IPS

would ideally like ssd, 8-16 GB ram, 44++ 9-cell and dock all included, but I'm content to go shopping for those a la carte afterwards. most critical components are the proc and ips.

let me know if I'm forgetting to specify anything.

many thanks in advance,

Thanks for your reply, basketb. I poked around, but I trust this site's membership more than Lenovo or any random fora. That said, I'm seeing here something about Link Power Management not being well supported by SSDs. Being generally unwilling to modify registry entries for a problem not specifical...

Daily BSODs on a new pre-owned W520.

Already ran a memory diagnostic that came up clean. The Win7 Pro 64-bit install, straight from freshly ordered Lenovo factory recovery discs, is not two weeks old. I'm averaging about 3 BSODs per day.

Any and all help greatly appreciated.

WTB: 76Y2206-T510 Win7 Pro 64-bit Recovery Disk

New owner of a T510 with a 32-bit Windows 7 install. This seems like the easiest way to upgrade, as opposed to sourcing a non-ThinkPad-specific copy of the OS and manually installing drivers (how possible is this, by the way?).

Many thanks in advance,

I have (roughly) the same question. Specifically, my configuration is T510 + this:

+ one of a variety of 500GB or 1TB 2.5" drives.

Re: WTB: T400/T510/W510

I've gone with LED backlit displays (unavailable on the T500/W500 except in 1280x800) for better daylight visibility, longevity, and lower power consumption. with no data on NITs or contrast ratios for T410 screens over at ThinkWiki, I have no basis for comparison. i suppose the LP141WP2-TLB1 could ...

Reviews/Opinions on T400s WXGA+ 1440x900 LED Display

ThinkWiki lists the following specs:

14.1"
1440x900
42T0633
120,4 DPI
LED
TMD-Toshiba
LT141DE18B00

A review said 300 NITs, but I can't corroborate that with any supporting info.

Can anyone confirm/deny the NIT level and/or give their overall opinion of this display?
