Re: Engadget: The inside story of Lenovo's ThinkPad redesign
This is a delicate moment. I'd be interested to see what they have to say on the matter and what the counted user feedback actually was. Lenovo appears to be selling it purely for the look now. On a grander scale, compared to the traditional ThinkPad style, I'd be calling this thing Dr. Frankenstein...

Re: SSD (7mm slim form) storage that is compatible with an X220
As far as I know, any SSD with a 7mm body should fit with the caddy like any normal 7mm hard drive. Just be careful with things like some of the Intel SSDs. The 520 that I put in my X220t had a 7mm body but came out of the box with a 9.5mm bracket attached. It says on the sticker that removing screw...

Chipped X220t overlay
I had a run in with a sharp object of the metallic kind (sparing the story now :| ) and the overlay on my X220 tablet seems to have a small chip in it, about half the size of an eraser head. It's the multi touch one and would anybody know where it would be possible to easily obtain a new overlay (or...

2013 Edges announced
http://www.engadget.com/2013/01/06/lenovo-thinkpad-edge-e431-e531-onelink-dock/ It's edge centered (lol) but I figured it should go here because it has implications for the rest of the line More important than speeds and feeds, though, the company is ushering in a redesigned trackpad, one that gets ...

Re: If you've ≥5 computers, do you use them all or feel guilty?
My "Mini 10" and X61t are starting to see some neglect now. Most of my time out seems to be spent on my X220t, while at home I'm glued to my desktop. I just want to start hoarding ThinkPads but there's other things I need to put my money towards first. I guess really what's holding me back from the ...

Re: Help! Need new Thinkpad
If you're bent on getting something new and really want the nice old keyboard, I think the T510 or T520 would work out beautifully and be on an affordable side of the playing field now. The only challenge there is hunting down one with a HD+ or above display and Intel WiFi card

Re: Did you get Windows 8 on the launch day (Oct 26th)?
I had plans to. Wish they sold a full install digital download though. I'm just too lazy to go out and buy an OEM disc, then find an ISO to put the RTM on my X220 tablet. Might just clone my 7 install and upgrade one but I'm too lazy for that as well

Re: How to tell if X220 has IPS screen, in general?
You should be able to check the configuration on the lenovo support site by entering your model/config number as long as the suffix isn't CTO into the box there. For example, the one provided in the OP seems to be an i3, 4GB from the factory and non IPS.

Props to them on the display(finally, now let's see it go to the rest). But there's at least an AR coating on it right?
Here's hoping it at least comes with a digitiser which the Twist sorely missed out on
Thumbs down on that trackpoint indeed. I can't imagine what they're going to do next

Re: Please NO! - first 21:9 LCD ultrabook
Why the heck did we abandon 4:3? The LCD industry wanting to cheap out a little(a lenovo blog cited that it was cheaper for manufacturers to cut such an aspect ratio on their lines) and the presumably the entertainment industry wanting to push it down and say that it's better for consumption, which...

Re: 7.7" tablet with AMOLED display
Seems much akin to the Galaxy Tab 7.7(in display anyway). I guess one of the issues as the review says is brightness; AMOLED and outdoors don't exactly coin well. There was a Samsung laptop back in 2010 with an AMOLED display(albeit a transparent one). The sheer impracticality(even next to other lap...

Re: ThinkPad turns 20
Right now, it seems the last bastion of TP design, beyond the color black, is that little drop of red. I think it needs a pat on the back...or the head. There was a point where Lenovo played by writing a blog post about killing off the TrackPoint. It was of course met with harsh criticism and never...

Re: Lenovo to begin making some ThinkPads in the USA
It does indeed seem like an odd move for where Lenovo is based, though they did have a somewhat noticeable presence in the US. Maybe it's like the Japan announcement to line up with the 20th birthday coming up in two days. Some good publicity.

Re: Difference between T430 and L430
Outside of specs, from then on it's the "ThinkPad bits" that differ between them. The L series has been pushed into the lower end due to its lack of rollcage, lid latches and Ultrabay and if I recall correctly, different construction materials(ABS instead of CFRP). How much these really matter is fo...

Re: Old timer "sandwich"
The way the base and dock can be stacked on each other is interesting. It sucks that the later iterations can't stack, especially with the slice battery and Ultrabase being around on the X220/30 and both shaped to cover the whole base of the machine. Though I imagine someone would want to try and ab...

Re: AC adapters for W510
As far as I'm aware, the 90w power brick will work with the W510, though you will get throttling i.e. not full speed
this is in contrast to the case of trying to use the 90w with a W520 where it won't like it at all

Re: ThinkPad X220t tablet FAQs/hints/tips
Just a question. Though it applies to other X series tablets as well Is there a way for the system to disable the trackpoint when it enters tablet mode? The machine can certainly recognise it's in tablet mode. It'd be nice to have a way to have it turn off so the back of the display touching it does...

Re: A Little Story: My 6-Years Experience with ThinkPads...
Seeing what pops up on eBay, ThinkPads seem to be leased for somewhere around 3 years. Bundles of X200s, T400s and T500s seem to be rolling around here in Australia at least and running in the $200-350 range. I'd assume there are companies that will continue buying business oriented machines, though...

Though the real X220 doesn't have that sort of bezel and yeah the numbers don't exist in lenovo's support or warranty databases either(with the product number not being in lenovo's form either). I thought all the lenovo power bricks were able to take 100-240v 50-60Hz in as per the label on the bottom. Unless the pins were swapped, though there should've been failsafes in place. The lenovo ThinkPad power supplies are generally supposed to be cross compatible as well with the same 20v output(...

You will be able to use the charge since it's the same yellow tip 20v. Concerning batteries, the ThinkPad Battery 41/+/++ will not be usable in the T400 or T410. It should however be usable in the NON widescreen 14" T61, T/R/W500 and T60 as per http://support.lenovo.com/en_GB/product-and-parts/detai...
