Re: 760ed win95 install problem
Not familiar with the 760's but it sounds like either the disc isn't bootable or more likely the 760 series doesn't support support CD booting. You'll need a floppy drive or to install it on another machine.

Changing German Recovery Discs to English
There at a lot of recovery iso's on archive.org that are in German. I'm particularly interested in the older sets for the 3 and 7 series. Only problem is most of those are in German and I don't speak or read German. While I would like to learn the language I'm wondering if it's possible to extract t...

Re: Thinkpad 770X recovery with 770Z discs?
I thought I'd chime in here a few years later and report that I too am having issues getting the 770Z recovery disk to work on a 770X. The CD is not bootable, so I made a floppy out of the files in recovery.bin in the image. When I use that floppy the computer gets to "Starting Windows 95..." and t...

Re: 770X recovery discs
I can definitely say the Win95 770ED recovery discs that worked for me did NOT require a boot floppy. Burned the image, popped it in, booted and recovered. All of my regular OEM Win95B&C CDs are bootable as well. I have also tried the boot floppy with the 770z CD I got from Bill Morrow, still no dic...

770X recovery discs
I've recently been trying to restore my 770X to factory specs using the discs listed in the recovery set repository. Unfortunately the 770x set is in German and the 770z set refuses to work. This is the second 770z set I've tried and neither work, not sure whats going on there as the X and Z are nea...

I just bought one brand new from Lenovo for what I think was a good price and I am happy with the performance. I had been using an x61t before that so the the performance difference was very noticeable.

X61t BSOD on Undock Win7 Pro
Just like the title says. If I press the undock button on the ultrabase the system immediately blue screens. Same thing will happen if I select undock from the start menu. I will get more info on the blue screen when I get home but everything else works great and I can hot dock the laptop just fine....

Re: A31p sound driver issue
There is a patch you need to install first if running win2k and then reinstall the audio driver. It was a pain on my A31, can't remember the exact process I went through but I did get it to work.

Ultrabay II SuperDisk Drive??
I opened the Ultrabay Control Panel window on my 770X last night and saw that SuperDisk was listed among the other Ultrabay devices. Wondering if anyone here knows something about them or has seen one? I'm thinking it might have been an idea that never materialized because I can find nothing about i...

FAT should be able to be read by just about any relatively new OS. Any luck using the A31?

Re: Old drive not recognized with IDE converter.
If the drive will fit in the A31 somehow, I'd give it a try and boot from a CD or ultrabay HDD. Otherwise, getting a 2.5 to 3.5 IDE adapter would be the cheapest option.

WTB old plastic HDD caddy for 360 series
Took the hard drive out of my 360 and out of it's plastic caddy to get data off of it and lost the cable that connects the HDD to the motherboard that goes inside the caddy. Still have the caddy, really just need the cable. If anyone has the cable or even a complete drive/caddy assembly I'd be inter...

Haven't found anything about a difference in the pin out but take a look at this: https://retrocomputing.stackexchange.com/questions/409/how-to-access-old-laptop-ide-hard-drive/410 This might be the issue. Re: Old drive not recognized with IDE converter.
Two older drives that I have (540MB out of a 360something and an 810MB out of a 365XD) don't work well with a USB to IDE converter. Not sure what the issue is but my guess is it's some sort of problem with the adapter not being fully compatible with the ATA version of the drives. I've run into issue...

I suppose it's possible but I doubt it. I've recovered the system with a Win98 recovery disc for the 770X and a 98SE disc for the T20 over the past couple days. Running Win98 SE from the T20 disc and it seems to be working well. I'm using it to type this right now  I guess the old girl still...

Re: T23 Windows 95 drivers?
I remember 95 being very finicky about drivers and the order that you install them. PCMCIA drivers stand out as the most annoying. What version of 95 are you running? I'd suggest trying OSR2.5 (95C?) to get the best luck with USB support. I've managed to get PCI USB cards and wireless cards that req...

So, I'm curious if anyone out there with a 770Z would be willing to try the recovery disc from Bill just to make sure it isn't a compatibility issue once and for all. PM me for a link to the ISO.

Agreed, if you can, send the battery out. I was very surprised at how easily the pack out of my 770 opened up, definitely not the norm.
This is a case of do as I say not as I do I got lucky every step of the way.

This is the only guidance I used to rebuild my battery https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrDnTXqoqjM Now, using a soldering iron directly on any battery isn't a good idea but it was all I had and it did work. Doesn't really seem to be much to rebuilding a battery pack. I just opened the case as carefu...

Also, don't think you'll ever find a 770z from 1997. Pretty sure they came out in the tail end of 1998 or early 1999.

Love the selectadock III, I should get mine out again. Was a pain before with a bad battery but now that I rebuilt the battery pack I can actually dock and undock :D As far as a wireless card, look for a Cisco Aironet 350. As far as I know, it's one of the only PCMCIA wireless cards with DOS drivers...

Exactly, a regular boot disk will work just fine but still doesn't get me anywhere. Currently running Win2k still but it would be very cool to get the video capture feature working.
