Re: X240: slow POST

Hi My X240 needs 17s until the first message appears on the screen. Usually this takes about 2s (no matter whether Quick Boot is on or off). Everything else works fine. By searching for similar problems I found about a dozen threads covering the same topic (for other models), but no solution. The l...

Re: Firefox 53: no support for Windows XP or Vista

On Linux qutebrowser works far better than FF on Pentium-M or older. The main problem is Windows XP. Because on 7 you can get the new opera, just put it on "battery saving mode" and even on a pentium M it is will be "fast". (my experience at work, and I've tried different browsers such as K-meleon ...

Re: Your favorite Linux distro on a Thinkpad? Why?

Antergos Arch power with a easy installer and some goodies already installed. I am not a Arch fan, and personally I don't care for many of those "goodies". If you like Arch have a look at this, install is much faster and cleaner: I advise creating the partitions you want to use before you boot with...

Windows 8.1 Impressions needed (mainly battery life)

Hi guys, I am thinking of upgrading to windows 8.1 (clean install) on my X230. I've been reading about it, specially battery life and all websites shown much less battery life. Do you think in 2014, after so much bios and driver updates it is solved or it is still better to stay with windows 7? Anyo...

Samsung 830 or 840evo would be my choices.

Re: e-sata or firewire for express card?

The ESATA cards work poorly. I have both the Startech, and a Sonnett. There is an odd bottleneck in the read speed, limited to 50MB/sec. The write speed is higher. I found that, even with my old Thinkpads, a USB 3.0 Expresscard, combined with an ESATA-->USB 3.0 converter, provides better performanc...

Too good to be true. Will be like a killer to all crappy laptops manufactured now a days. Of course limited amount of people will be interested in this - like the members of this forum. I hope for HOPE to get this mobo in production. Cheers. If this comes to real I guess I would just buy a dead T4x...

has anyone tried this on a X230?How it went?
About skins, sometime ago I ordered one from here (dbrand.com) and it was very professional and fast shipped.
For example for XDA forums he has a coupon code and that stuff, maybe he could do the same with us, already asked =)

"- (Fix) Fixed an issue where hang might happen at post with a certain USB HDD."
This was on bios 1.37 for X220, if you get the latest one 1.39 it would contain that fix.

Re: Why did I buy a ThinkPad??? *PIC*

I was a mac guy (worked in an apple repair center), after seeing Macs dying everyday, including mine, and the most extended warranty that I could have was 3 years I went to see thinkpads. For the same price of a stock macbook pro (13.3,i5,4gb, 5400rpm had, 2 years warranty) I got: X230 with 12.5 ips...

e-sata or firewire for express card?

Hi Guys, I have at home a Lacie Quadra D2 500Gb (usb2.0,fw400,fw800,e-sata), for the x230 I can only use the usb2.0 and I was thinking about buying an express card to make use of a faster connection. What do you recommend? From what I see e-sata is the cheapest and fastest, any recommendations of ch...

Re: Thinkpads And Linux: Anything Good In The Sub $400 Range?

I guess thinkpads don't have too much that can be wrong in linux. Intel wifi cards - work just fine, if you have another models maybe you have to enabel restricted drivers or have no download/enable some driver/firmware. Intel cpus - work fine Intel graphics cards - work fine, drivers are very nice ...
