FOUND (WTB x201 or x220)
hi folks, long ago I found my x41t here and I'm finally looking to upgrade to something like an x201 or x220 (tablet or laptop). I'd like to find something with a fast-ish cpu, SSD, ultrabase/DVD, webcam, at least 8GB, and Windows 7 pro, or if I need to supply any of those myself I'd like the price ...

x220 vs ThinkCentre m90p?
hi folks, I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with the ThinkCentre desktops, circa the m90p series. I've long thought my upgrade from my current x41 would be the x220, but in poking around I'm considering getting a desktop and keeping the x41 for travel. How does the x220 stack up against th...

Re: FS: Crazily modified T61 X9100 6GB 160GB SSD 3G GPS
Q: Why did I do such crazy but pointless things instead of getting a new laptop with i7? A: First of all, I want to flip off Samsung, LG-Philips, Sharp, AUO, and Chimei for cut off the 4:3 screen production line. I'd rather pay 100 GBP more for a screen that is not "compressed and crushed". Secondl...

Re: FS: 2x X200
Well, I really didn't think I was in the market, but that #2 looks like a nice upgrade over my x41 (and it's my last chance for no touchpad, right? :) ), and an ultrabase and x-25 m SSD together are only about $80 on ebay, a lot less than I was thinking. So the only other question is memory -- could...

I meant to ask a few days ago when I couldn't find more information on the model number, but could you post the cpu and screen specs? And/or how to find this information myself? Thanks.

Re: Could we kickstart fund a 4:3 machine
I'd absolutely pour some money into that kind of project, because watching all modern thinkpads turn into wannabe Macbook Ideapads is frustrating. But 3D printing a notebook probably won't work - can't see that stuff being sturdy enough to be called a thinkpad. The most realistic way to do a kickst...

At least for the last week the outlet's been unusable -- trying to sort by selecting the checkboxes on the left doesn't work. Anyone else seeing this?

feedback wanted from developers using X61 to X230
hi, In my endless quest to find a suitable replacement for my x41t I've been looking for developers describing their usage experience of the X-series from the 61 through to the X230. Seriously, I wish Lenovo would just let us design our own 3D printed machines and this whole problem would be solved....

Just some feedback, that price seems a little high for the first bundle. Even though it is a tablet and comes with the ultrabase, it's a 1.6 and not in good working condition (without a good HDD). I watch eBay frequently for those.

Re: 8gb and fastest cpu for x61t?
Ah it was soldered, thanks guys, that makes sense now. Right now on ebay it looks like 2 4gb modules would be $120+ (versus $30-40 for ddr3!), you weren't kidding. Yeah it's hard to decide if the newer cpu will be worth it. It's more of a convenience because then you don't have to farm out as many c...

8gb and fastest cpu for x61t?
hi, I'm reading up on whether a x61t can work as an upgrade from my x41t (rather than going for a x2xx). From the Thinkwiki and ebay it seems like the tablet doesn't have the option for the faster Core Duos, is that correct? Also I'm wondering if the max is 4 GB or whether 8 GB is possible like on t...

how would (could?) you remove the touchpad?
As I sit here typing on my x41 and contemplate a future where I have to use a laptop with a touchpad, I get a crazy thought which leads me to my question: How would you completely remove the touchpad from a model such as the x220, x230, etcetera? Is it even possible to modify a palmrest from, say, a...

upgraded x61 vs. x220
hello all, I'm seeking some advice on upgrading from my x41t (Windows XP, 1.5 gb ram and stock 60gb hdd with ultrabase). Right now I use it for programming, browsing, and old games usually with one VirtualBox VM running. At first I thought of going right to the x220, as the outlet has some good look...

which midsize laptop for work and home?
hi, I'm in the middle of shopping for a laptop for my sister. If it was for me I'd know exactly what I want, but since my sister has some different requirements I'm open to suggestions. She says she wants a DVD reader, that 13" is probably a little small, and HD space is not that big of a concern. S...

Strange issue, buttons + keys stop working until reboot
I've had a strange problem with my x41t, Windows XP SP 2, for a while now and after much searching I'm stumped. Maybe someone here can see what's going on. A little while after a reboot (within a day?), the browser back/forward buttons, the hardware volume buttons on screen display, and the ctrl-alt...

Re: The little red button can be addicting
As a dedicated trackpoint fan, but the owner of a rather old TP, I was browsing the Lenovo site the other day and wondered -- are there any TPs out now without the touchpad? I thought some of the X series still only had the trackpoint but it seems like that's not the case anymore?

need help on finding missing HDD memory on XP
I've been running some tools and looking on Google and this forum, but still haven't figured out what's going on; hopefully someone here can help. The other day I noticed that my C:\ drive (the only HDD on my X41t/Windows XP laptop) said it had 8 GB available out of 50 GB total. I didn't think I was...

does the X4 dock serial port work with the x41 tablet?
hi, I'm wondering if I can use the X4 dock serial port with a X41t tablet. Sorry for what might be a dumb question, but I'm not completely clear on what a 'pass through' port really is -- does this just mean it allows you to use the ports already in the laptop itself? If it actually adds ports, do I...

Re: which newish thinkpads can have palm rests with no touchpad?
Can someone confirm if the T40 palmrest with no touchpad can be swapped into a T43? Both 14" LCD. I thought not, but just want to check as there's a good deal on a T43 locally here. eta: I forgot I could compare FRUs from the hardware manuals -- it looks like only a couple of models of T43 can take ...

which newish thinkpads can have palm rests with no touchpad?
I know the T4* line and the x4* accept palmrests with no touchpad. What I'm curious about is which of the newer models (say, last four years) can have no-touchpad palmrests, if not from the factory then maybe with some home modification? I love thinkpads, but I don't like touchpads -- and as I'm thi...
