Re: Info t460

Really, really thanks for Your considerations.

I'd like more battery life and a better display quality... but at the same time I'm afraid to leave the very great keyboard quality of my X220.

Info t460

Hi, to upgrade my old X220 I'm wondering to buy a T460, as I found one at a price of 300 euro (unfortunately NOT the full HD version). Could it be a real improvement at a good price ? These are the specifications: -display 14" HD -Intel I7 6500U -Ram 16 Gb DDR3 -SSD Corsair 240 Gb -Nvidia GeForce 94...

Re: Is it possible to upgrade to 12 G of RAM (4 G + 8 G)?

If you're using 16GB RAM, having heavy usage (like 12GB or more), quadcore i7 pushing 85%+ & 'feel' the speed of the SSD, then that latency speed on RAM would show the significance. Get the 1600MHz if it feels better to you. Personally I couldn't tell much of a difference. If you're going to use a ...

Are You sure ? From 1033 to 1600 could be a concrete improvement in day-to-day performance.
What are you basing this assumption on?
It's not an assumption, it's an hypothesis.
Do You know the difference?

Re: X220 modified bios (1.46) doesn't let me change the option from the bios

I've no password on my bios and I still use Windows 7.

With that bios ram frequency is not limited to 1333 MHz, right ?

Re: X220 modified bios (1.46) doesn't let me change the option from the bios

I'm undecided about which is the "better" bios version to install on my Lenovo x220, to have both no vulnerability and good performance.
Currently I have again the old 1.38 version.

I'm particularty interested to know if this issue could be resolved with a bios update.

In think it's an important aspect.

Here is an interesting discussion about this argument, included the fact old bios supported 1866 MHz ram, too.

And now You have 2 models of 4 GB in dual mode ? So would the best choice be a pair of 2x8Gb of DDR3 at 1600 MHz ? I would add a 2nd 4 Gb: Crucial PC3-8500F (533 MHz) CT51264BC1067.M16F Cost benefit wise, better solution, 8Gb is sufficient for normal usage, only if your are into heavy virtual machin...

Re: Is it possible to upgrade to 12 G of RAM (4 G + 8 G)?

I restart from this topic because I've a similar question.

I need to update my configuration:

- 2 Gb: Samsung PC3-10700 (667 MHz) M471B5773CHS-CH9
- 4 Gb: Crucial PC3-8500F (533 MHz) CT51264BC1067.M16F

How could I upgrade both modules to improve performance as more as possible ?

In Italy (Amazon) for the same price (about 50/60 euro) there are Crucial MX500, SanDisk SDSSDA 240, Samsung MZ-76E250B and Drevo X1 Pro.

A new SSD for Lenovo X220

I've to replace my Samsung 840 (128 Gb) with a larger and possibly faster ssd (at least 256 Gb, 512 Gb would be perfect).

Which is the best option at the moment, for quality/price ratio ?

It seems that mSata card is no more a valuable option...

I'm evaluating just now some x250 models but all of them seem to be a little pricy.

A valid but but budget alternative I've found would be Asus P301La, that for only 150 euro could offer an overall average upgrade, respect to my x220.
