I could understand getting a T420i, but it might just be easier to get a T420s and then finding a T420si clearplate.

Re: The P1 and the X1 Extreme are more like each other than the P[57]* or other X*; put them on a separate group?

For the time being, I think P1 posts should be here, I don't think there should be a different group. It would just be a big moderation problem to move posts or flag them. The X1 subforum is like a catch all net, X1 Carbon, X1 Yoga & X1 Tablet. Likewise the Yoga has its own subforum as well, but the...

Re: Thinkpad 13 with 4K screen?

ThinkPad 12 (1nd Gen) Platform Specifications has the following

"Max resolution: 1920x1080 (HDMI)@60Hz, 3840x2160 (USB Type-C)@60Hz"

So I would assume it would work just fine if you had a USB C input in your TV, or a USB C to HDMI connector that supports 4K @60Hz.

Rare if they somehow survived - Zenith built 300, flawless Ti-Lid Z61p, X41 with the OEM HDD, any ISS ThinkPad. I don't believe that Z61p ever had a Ti lid as a factory option. There was a custom one (at least) built around here though, I believe by underclocker ... Really? Hmmm I must of presumed ...

Hello Geartooth, I remember an X1 I've restored had terrible battery life for having 70% battery health, stayed on only for an hour and a 45 minutes in Windows 7. :/ I would think perhaps there is a retaining tab that is not setting with the X1C palmrest/top case that is giving you the clicking prob...

Ah yea, I don't mind the 2010 MB Unibody, but it doesn't seem to like the 4GB RAM I throw at it, which is why I prefer 2009 more. The X1C7 with the carbon fiber weave will look great with my Pagani Huayra. :) Jokes aside this is an interesting step that Lenovo is taking with the X1C, they are adding subwoofers to them, making it more HiFi. Really whats the point of having a HDR compliant display if your audio sounds like meh w...

Re: Whether T420 at above AUD$100 is valuable 7 yrs on?

Written off laptops are always cheaper than buying from the original owner. The latter wants to make up what they've paid for. Id say it could be worth AUD $100 and up. Looking at the ebay market, T420's can be had as low as US $80 and up to $160. If I needed one, a T420 would suit my needs if I can...

Yeah, there was over 700 T420 ThinkPads that were sold on eBay.

Perhaps the Intel Meltdown & Spectre made companies retire their older computers when they found out it'll tank their performance if they update their systems.

I'd say its just HP trying to compete against Microsoft Surface that have Alcantara finish as an option. They are upping the ante by making it all leather.

Its a neat double take for some when you have it closed on a desk.

Hmmm I wonder how WQXGA will be in 17", I thought the Apple 27" iMac was perfect. I found QHD to be too much on 14" (X1C3) and on 15.6" (Zbook Studio G3) for my eyes... but I think its due to the display looking 'grainy' like SXGA+ X61T. At least they put the touchpad in the middle and not offset to...

Krita is a pretty nice program that is available for Windows, Mac & Linux. It recently added SVG 1.1 support, so it is helpful if you have a simple vector from Inkscape. I had always thought SuperFish was installed on some ThinkPads by default?
For a little bit, I thought it was included in an update. I'm too dumb to remember if my refurbished X1C3 came with that junk included before I installed linux.

T7600G Overclocked Passmark Score? For Core 2 Duo Pricing/Performance Spreadsheet.

Hi, I have been doing ebay pricing for most of the Core 2 Duo mobile processors and also getting Passmark benchmark scores of them (overall and single core). The G50 is a strange device, it was only sold in East Asia markets, but it looks like Lenovo made it to be a budget laptop. Most configurations I've saw from this website shows only Intel 950 graphics, so they got rid of the nVidia option from the G41. Possibly it could of been a good thing consider...
