Re: Which 300/700 series has this clicky tactile keyboard?

755 feels amazing, I think a had a 755CE, and in comparison to the 365XD, there was a slight premium feel difference. I do have a 700 PS/2 Thinkpad, but unfortunately the metal/plastics on the machine are brittle & the one of the hinges destroyed a corner. 770 and 600 models I've come across are nic...

I guess Sidney Powell had "evidence" that wouldn't lead well with the courts. She's gone, but supposedly wasn't part of the legal team. Trump should of knocked out Giuliani looooong time ago, his hair dye leakage was gross... Wonder if he even took a shower after dying it. I'm assuming he's only sti...

Re: IBM ThinkPad A31p with Numpad Unit (and some history)

E port II can run on batteries? never knew, but I never tried it, as I thought it was like the old thinkpad docks, not like the X6x or X2xx ultrabase.

Now I think about the expansion port, it's probably better if I buy a USB-C Expansion slot instead, for future proofing and usability.

Unless you consider the dumb Bay Projector (Fujitsu LifeBook S761/P771), or the stupid Bridge Media Adapter (Toshiba Satellite 5200/5205), or the actually useful USB 3.0 Expansion Module (Dell Latitude E6320/E6420/E6520) to be indirect competitors from other companies. Thanks, I just bought a USB 3...

Re: What is the difference between a 380ED and a 385ED?

I find it humorous the 385 was the cheaper, retail cousin of the 380 and now we have something similar with the T485 being the cheaper AMD variant of the Intel T480.

Originally I though the 385 came out after the 380, but the ThinkWiki cleared that up.

Re: IBM ThinkPad A31p with Numpad Unit (and some history)

How did you get it to work independently under XP? In my memory it would also enable the numpad on the keyboard. It's been so long I've forgotten. I think it worked out of the box, which is why I was frustrated with Linux. I think it would have some problem where calculator would run, but I feel it...

Re: IBM ThinkPad A31p with Numpad Unit (and some history)

Was there ever a competitor to the UltraBay NumPad? I would think something might of been made during the 90's by a competitor. My only misfortune with the numpad is that I couldn't figure out how to configure the system to work "automatically" under Linux Mint when I got my numpad years back. I wou...

Re: Highest performance GPU compatible in a W701?

Having the W700ds, the FX 3700M was decent for me at the time (2012 to 2016), but when I came across a T440, it's stock i5 and iGPU rendered video w/ Vegas Pro about 4 times faster on battery life than what mine can do. I would pass on upgrading the dGPU due to the price that specific FRU demands in...

iirc, I had two G41's one with nVidia, one without. The nVidia one had some sort of interface for the GPU, maybe PCMCIA? But on the non nVidia one, it doesn't have the interface, but it does have the solder points for it. Unless you can add that interface and solder it in, i'm not sure if it require...

Re: The last REAL ThinkPad before Lenovo

I knew about the R31 but I did not know about the X41 was done by Winstron. Technically even the original ThinkPads were not 100% by IBM. You have the Zenith 300, but the 700, 700C and 700T/2521 were co-developed by Ricoh. Then we got Tadpole who licensed the TrackPoint on their laptops, and eventua...

Glad it was use for you all.
I didn't know Excel can open up from HTMl files, I did a simple copy and paste, but sometimes it won't work on some of these sites so I would have to modify it w/ word and then excelt or google sheets.

X1 Tablet is 3:2, but the removable keyboard/base might not be my cup of tea.
It also has a kickstand in the rear, so it might be a pain to open/close.

This spreadsheet doesn't have MTM's, but it does has some specs on old thinkpads.
It's not complete, but it is more than I have done.

I wish I knew of a program that can strip data and put it on a spreadsheet.

ThinkWiki is basically dead, there's one or two people updating pages and all the site admins have basically abandoned the site. Consider the German ThinkPad Wiki , it has much more thinkpads listed and is quite a nice resource. I did not know about the FRU lookup and it would cut down on my homewor...

Sounds like someone is going to have to sacrifice their ThinkPad and spray paint it white for the scanning.
However the process would not be complete until they place an Apple sticker on the lid for true heresy.

For youtube, my A31p was not able to play anything, via XP or Linux. It choppy even with di.fm music streaming that I had to use a software music player. It still skipped some songs but it played 95% of them. I don't think my T43p can play youtube in 480p without issues. As far the DVD issues, perha...

Yes. The X1C went with soldered ram, but the 13" X1 (non carbon), had one RAM slot & soldered memory.

I feel ya on the ThinkPad Twist, worked good in Windows 7 and Linux, but not so much with Windows 10.

Re: Is this worth it for an X1 Carbon Gen 1?

I'd say it is a good price. I have been tracking prices of ThinkPads on eBay and that price looks to be about the starting price for a used unit. They seem to be depreciating about $50 to $100 each year depending on spec/condition, I don't know if they'll drop below $100 other than units that need w...

Windows XP seems to have no issues with the ultrabay numberpad if you happen to have it.
Linux Mint gave me some graphical issues on some boot ups, but it worked ok for online usage.

Re: Is this w700 worth buying?

I think the W700 had an ultrabay battery option, but I have doubts on finding a healthy battery that would hold a 90% charge after 2 months. My W700ds had a 3rd party battery that would randomly die while in use in Windows 7. I would think the W700 had its own screen latch part, but you may be able ...

It sounds to me that the motor that moves the laser across the DVD is broken or jammed. Finding a replacement drive shouldn't be more than $30.00 shipped, tear it open and diagnose!

On eBay it seems the better deals are ones where the seller doesn't know much about them. While I was working at an electronic recycler, it's just easier palletizing them to a bulk buyer, than to list them & deal with fees or returns. For the profit margins, time is better spent on listing pricier i...

I would put on carbon fiber vinyl wrap on my T60p and T430s, it looks pretty nice and I like the feel of the texture. I would link my imgur but it seems that the site is down when viewing my photos.
