Looks good, but idk how not using a touchscreen windows keyboard would be like...

I don't think I've ever used my PixelBook as a keyboard when I am in tablet mode, I guess I could start there and consider the X1 Fold from there.

Re: Vintage Thinkpad parts virtual 3D repository

Sounds like someone is going to have to sacrifice their ThinkPad and spray paint it white for the scanning.
However the process would not be complete until they place an Apple sticker on the lid for true heresy.

Re: Installed video driver for a31p on XP no luck

For youtube, my A31p was not able to play anything, via XP or Linux. It choppy even with di.fm music streaming that I had to use a software music player. It still skipped some songs but it played 95% of them. I don't think my T43p can play youtube in 480p without issues. As far the DVD issues, perha...

Yes. The X1C went with soldered ram, but the 13" X1 (non carbon), had one RAM slot & soldered memory.

I feel ya on the ThinkPad Twist, worked good in Windows 7 and Linux, but not so much with Windows 10.

Re: Is this worth it for an X1 Carbon Gen 1?

I'd say it is a good price. I have been tracking prices of ThinkPads on eBay and that price looks to be about the starting price for a used unit. They seem to be depreciating about $50 to $100 each year depending on spec/condition, I don't know if they'll drop below $100 other than units that need w...

Windows XP seems to have no issues with the ultrabay numberpad if you happen to have it.
Linux Mint gave me some graphical issues on some boot ups, but it worked ok for online usage.

Re: Is this w700 worth buying?

I think the W700 had an ultrabay battery option, but I have doubts on finding a healthy battery that would hold a 90% charge after 2 months. My W700ds had a 3rd party battery that would randomly die while in use in Windows 7. I would think the W700 had its own screen latch part, but you may be able ...

The book - All About ThinkPad 1991 - 1998 (oh and other vintage thinkpads rant)

This post pertains to ThinkPad history. So I've been writing on my website and trying to dig to the bottom of the ThinkPad's history. Arrogantly I did my research without reading the ThinkPad book , so I've been going off magazine and website posts. But I have come across another book that is out of...

It sounds to me that the motor that moves the laser across the DVD is broken or jammed. Finding a replacement drive shouldn't be more than $30.00 shipped, tear it open and diagnose!

I feel that it would be a bad thing if we talk about politics here on the ThinkPad forums. First off this website isn't for politics, its for ThinkPad repairs, mods & news. Politics wise, the only topics I could see us speaking about related to IBM, Lenovo, ThinkPads or computers in general is if/wh...

Re: Where to source dead/nonfunctional 15" T60s?

On eBay it seems the better deals are ones where the seller doesn't know much about them. While I was working at an electronic recycler, it's just easier palletizing them to a bulk buyer, than to list them & deal with fees or returns. For the profit margins, time is better spent on listing pricier i...

I would put on carbon fiber vinyl wrap on my T60p and T430s, it looks pretty nice and I like the feel of the texture. I would link my imgur but it seems that the site is down when viewing my photos. The wrap would fit nicely on the lid, no need for using a blow dryer unless you're in a very cold cli...

Re: Have I been scammed? T440p

I've found that the PSREF has been wrong a few times. If the outfit is a recycler, most of the time they'll just get a bunch of random devices in a bin. Probably they might of just bundled the T440p with the 90W charger, and used the 135W T540p... For all we know, it could be a CTO model that...

Re: New affordable & compact Lenovo ThinkPad L13 & L13 Yoga laptops with Intel 10th gen CPUs announced

Nice reply on the article. :) Very disappointing Lenovo is going this route with the L Series. I wonder when they are going to ditch matte displays for glossy entirely. I didn't care much for the L series, after associating it with an SL400c, one of the worst laptops I've worked on. Anyways, they se...

Re: Thinkpad + Linux = I really want to learn !!

If you're using ubuntu, wifi should work out of the box on all of those ThinkPads. Specific distros I've come to have an issue with wifi and I just end up moving onto a different distro if I don't figure it out within an hour. T400 benefits from libreboot or coreboot if you decide to go that route i...

Re: Would you buy a 3D printed Laptop Case?

The problem with laptop cases is that it would have to be a specific fit for each laptop, next it would be the color selection, then of course, price. I have a leather case for my X61 Tablet, & it came with a strap, which was handy. Now its warped to hell thanks for me not using it, but I got it for...

ThinkPad 12 (1nd Gen) Platform Specifications has the following

"Max resolution: 1920x1080 (HDMI)@60Hz, 3840x2160 (USB Type-C)@60Hz"

So I would assume it would work just fine if you had a USB C input in your TV, or a USB C to HDMI connector that supports 4K @60Hz.

Hello Geartooth, I remember an X1 I've restored had terrible battery life for having 70% battery health, stayed on only for an hour and a 45 minutes in Windows 7. :/ I would think perhaps there is a retaining tab that is not setting with the X1C palmrest/top case that is giving you the clicking prob...
