Re: why is sk 8855 USB keyboard so special?

eBay just has them at a high price, I don't remember which topic, but there was a USB TP Keyboard that was more expensive on eBay than on Lenovo and a few other sites, by like a 30% margin.

Re: How to protect x230 from unwanted booting

Can't you protect your laptop from booting from removable media? If it was me, I would add an admin password onto the bios and prompt it if it were needing to boot from USB/CD. I don't know what that kid did, but hiren's boot CD or WIndows Password removal probably did it, but those require F12 to b...

Re: Thinkpad s30 and s31 - The asian miracles!

I am trying to revive my machine, how did you go about installing the OS? I have an S31 and I am not sure what PCMCIA CD drive works on that, and it doesn't boot from USB sadly. I have a PCMCIA CD Drive from a Vaio but my S31 refuses to boot from it, I confirmed it working by testing it with my X61T...

Re: New ThinkPad series : A series (A285 and A485)

The new A-Series have OK performance, the passmark scores are somewhere between the i3 and i5. I don't know if Lenovo would make a Ryzen ThinkPad yet, they might do an Ideapad gaming laptop first and see how it goes. It would be nice to see an Ryzen workstation with a decent AMD FirePro but I doubt ...

Re: P71 e-1505M v6 vs i7 7820hq, is it worth the upgrade?

Mmmm, there isn't much of a difference really. ECC is kinda neat, the Xeon has P630 graphics while the i7 has 'standard' 630 graphics, but that isn't needed because I doubt you'll need integrated graphics performance. Maybe it'll help if you use OBS or something similar that uses two GPUs at once. T...

Re: Report: Dell is considering selling itself to VMWare

My dislike of the E7440 is that it runs hot under load and a small battery. I slowly became a fan of the E6430, though it is very ugly & thick, they seem more durable than a competing T430, but this is by observation by parting them out. Though I've gotten many ugly and bashed E6430/20 from my old j...

I've shipped iPads in USPS Padded Flat rates without any issues. Granted I will put cardboard in both sides while wrapping to give it a little bit extra strength.

For me USPS has been good, some of the sellers just take a day or two to ship ;(

Just keep in mind to keep track of your costs and your time. Those things easily slide by if you focus mainly on these computers.
I thought that was the fun part about old ThinkPads and a hidden rule about being a TPF member. :)

What laptop is this for? I think i have those red HDD rails/bumpers from my T430s or T431s that I am not using.
i would think the HDD shuttle is called a cover? They should all have FRUs that are easily accessible via eBay.

Is the B140HAN01.3 panel that good for a 14" display? I feel that I am not appreciating my modded T430s that much if this is true.

I would of though there were better color accurate panels by now.

Re: Still not using Smart touch screen devices

The good thing about being able to rely on an old cell phone is not having to worry about data plan costs. Internet is usually a $30 to $60 extra cost to a cell phone bill. I didn't get a smartphone until the Samsung S4, so that was in July 2013 for my Verizon plan. Although I liked the screen of th...

I'm glad the industry is utilizing USB-C as a charging port. The next step would be having full compatibility from other chargers, unless they have lower wattage than needed. As far as docks go, I'm not sure how long Lenovo will be making them. Seeing how eGPUs are getting nice cases with USB ports,...

Hmmm... I wonder how many corners Lenovo is going to cut, as in, how easy it is to upgrade a T470 into a 25 edition.
Hopefully it is 16:10, and they just use a modified lid, kinda like how the Dell Latitude E6430s, which basically was Dell's 13" E6330 with a 14" screen.

Disappointed though. :(

Mostly because they won't be a direct successor to my beloved A31p. It's just there to be an AMD variant of T and X series.

I tried to put a W500 motherboard onto a T60p frame. I didn't really know what I was doing, there are a lot of mount points that have to be cut off. You could always cover up all the ports that needed to be cut out on the left side of the laptop, but headphone/microphone jacks would be impossible to...
