Well with the Dell Precision M4600 and M4700 you can upgrade the graphics card, and can utilize some of the Alienware GPUs if you ever fry the graphics.
With the W520 and W530, you need to replace the motherboard for that.

Re: X1 Carbon Gen 2 (X1C2) what are common problems?

I had bought a batch of 'as is' motherboards from an X1C2 lot before, I think about 8 of them. iirc, 5 of them had bad RAM installed, irreplaceable due to soldiered on RAM. 2 didn't see the hard drive installed The one working one wouldn't turn on without the AC adapter plugged in at first, but woul...

Honestly there should be a gaming series ThinkPad, as bad as it sounds, people want it. I would presume what will work best is a P-Series with a GTX GPU variant/Drivers. If Lenovo is going to do dual colors on the keyboard, whats stopping them from doing full RGB colors on the keyboard? Will there b...

Re: Android or iPhone

I had a Samsung Galaxy S4 when it first came out, it was my first smart phone as well. Liked everything until how hot it performed and then the CPU overclocking in performance tests, which wasn't the real performance you ended up with. Got it back to root, installed a custom rom and it was great, un...

Re: G-series hard drive upgrade/replacement question

80GB seems to be max from factory, but I can't find anything higher than that. Minimally, you just need the HDD cover, as it has screws to latch onto the sides of the HDD. The bottom cover isn't necessary but is used just for extra protection. I just fixed up a G41 and G40. Installing a hard drive i...

Having owned a Pixel 1 and Pixel 2, my main dislike on the X1C3 was that it felt too 'flexy' due to its thinness. Wonderful review, though not an X61s user, I was an X61T for a long time. I pretty much agree with your review, The X1C3 was a blast, I think I installed Mint or Xubuntu when I had it. D...

I was surprised there was a tablet made before the IBM 2521!

PS-55 T22sx for those who are wondering.

Whenever I get some small surface scratches on screens, I put a dab of isopropryl alcohol and a dab of water onto a rag and try to rub it away. Usually up and down and left and right, then circular movements. I think the previous environment might of had something abrasive which gave it that weird c...

X was a latter CPU & possible motherboard upgrade and Z was an upgrade after that.

Looking at ThinkWiki, I believe the 'L' stood for lower end. Some of the ThinkPads with L in it had a lower cost screen.

You forgot P for pen enabled ThinkPads. :)

I am currently running 12GB RAM on my system (downgrade from 16GB), other than playing League of Legends (HD4000 handles the non intensive game just fine), I pushed it with 40 tabs of chrome open, it only went to 6GB, so I might of been fine with 8GB RAM total. Someone has a 755CV posted on eBay in Canada.
Postage is a bit much for me,I am thinking about it, but I might as well let you all take a look.
I bought it.

eBay link

Looks like they don't have an adapter for it, but I don't know if any 755C mobo can work on that thing if it doesn't boot.

A ThinkPad Helix comes with an ultrabook ivy bridge i5 or i7.

Yes, you'd have to replace the bottom case for that stripped screw.
Another idea would put a dab of silicon at the tip of the screw and hope it binds to part of the frame.
Though removing it may be a different story.

I think the mSATA capabilities are really neat for Thinkpads, given that rival EliteBooks and Laititudes of this era didn't have this feature! I'd go with option A. If you're fine with buying used SSDs, mSATAs are not that much more expensive than a 2.5" SATA III. For me, I really don't notice much ...

Not sure if I ever bricked my S4 but XDA is always a valuable source. To resurrect it, iirc you'll need a Windows PC and download the drivers for it. Next you'll need Odin to flash it, and from there you'll need a ROM for your device because it sounds like it removed it. Its been awhile since I used...

To me the ThinkPad 13 looks kinda like an Edge model, or style. However it does look a lot more proper for a ThinkPad.

Perhaps this is the lost S Series sucessor that came and went?

Sony Vegas does benefit with nVidia's CUDA cores, though I can't really find much of a real benchmark for it.
