I have the original drive in it, Samsung PM951 as listed in the parts list for the Yoga... I reinstalled Win 10 education but I did face some serious challenges...not a straight forward installation like on Win7. Installed win 10 education from a DVD the IT guy did downloaded it on a disk for me. St...

Re: Windows error code 0xc0000225

Well, that's my feeling to...to much of a coincidence that during the first boot after I merged the partitions the SSD would fail. But this is new territory, restoring partition table. I will have to look at google how to! Thanks for the feedback and advice! And for info, the SSD is removable on the...

Tried together with the IT guy from our company to boot with a Windows 10 installation disk, tried to repair etc...no fix. Then had a look with a partition manager software disk to see what partitions are on the SSD and does it see the SSD but not 1 single partition. Looks like the SSD failed at the...

Windows error code 0xc0000225

Hello all, I did it...have a Lenovo Yoga 910 2 in 1 for work with windows 10 education 64bit. I merged several partitions and made the mistake I believe to merge the partition containing the boot media. Now the Yoga fails to start and give me a BSOD with the error code 0xc0000225. I don't have a bac...

Re: Touchpad problems X1C 1st gen

although I seem to talk to myself here my latest update...the problem is not gone and is clearly related to the charging problem I face from time to time on this machine - see the "other charging problem topic". Re: Touchpad problems X1C 1st gen

Well...noticed that the "problem" started after a while so I figured it could be a heat problem. Therefore I replaced the PCB on the back of the keyboard assy, the one containing the start button/volume control etc. The board became hot at the area where the touchpad ribbon cable is attached. Cross ...

Re: Touchpad problems X1C 1st gen

Update, I was too quick...after using the computer for an hour the problem came back. It seems to come and go. Very erratic mouse/touchpad behaviour. When scrolling I open and or close other programs, loose the mouse pointer as it jumps to other parts of the display. Not only scrolling is affected, ...

Ok, update. The other non touch X1C has been repaired, replaced the display and swapped the keyboard as it had an intermitted bad contact in the "enter" key. Now back to my second X1C, the one with the touchscreen, the ex win 10 machine. Back with the original battery, charging goes normally up to 9...

I am still struggling with the charging issues on the X1 Carbon touch and now that the screen has failed after I dropped the other X1C I am now forced to use the X1C touch as my daily driver. Re: X1 Carbon touch 1st gen

Replaced the battery with one which came out off the win 7 machine and I struggled to get it charging...long story short turns out this X1C touch does no longer "accept" a 90 Watt charger (tried 2x different ones) but prefers the 65 Watt charger. With the 90 Watt charger I get erratic and intermitte...

Re: mSATA SSD inWWAN slot

As I don't have a spare mSATA or even a mini mSATA SSD I will wait until some body can confirm 100% if it fits... One X1C runs under Win 7, the other I will keep with Win 10 as for now...maybe it works under Win 10 without issue's? As for the reference to cover pin20 on the mSATA, I have a T420 and ...

Re: mSATA SSD inWWAN slot

Ok, I hold my horses...! Have to say that the mini mSATA's are more expensive compared to the full-size mSATA's... WAIT, see my edited post above! I just compared the pin-out from the WWAN port (CN11) from the X1C1 with that of the X230 (also CN11). Both are identical. In my X230 I have a (full-size...

mSATA SSD inWWAN slot

Re: X1 Carbon (5th gen, 2017) : 8gb Ram or 16gb Ram , i5 or i7

Check System Noise paragraph in i7 review . The laptop's passive cooling capabilities seem to be very limited, because the fan will start to spin even with short workloads. I would expect it is bad for both i5 and i7 as it is the case for any unnecessary thin laptop. I would take T470s instead, you...
