Re: Possibly missing SMD resistor on X210 board
Hi, sorry for the delay. Both of my boards match what the others have posted with the resistors stacked vertically (=) instead of next to each other (--). Good luck on the repairs!

Look into an X62, if you haven't already. The later version came with a Core i7-5600U, I have one.

Before you do that, there is always the external programmer route. It can be done with a Raspberry Pi and flashrom: https://www.flashrom.org/RaspberryPi I use a Pomona SOIC clip which lets you keep the chip on board: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/pomona-electronics/5250/745102 All is no...

Re: X2100 won't turn on, makes chirping noise
Watching this with vested interest! I've an X2100 4th batch that won't turn on, but I don't get any of the power status LED's on mine so might be a different issue. I get no response at all from battery or an external power source. Please do keep us informed if you have any luck! I've replaced my X...

X2100 power optimizations?
(Breaking out to differentiate from EC thread, as it really doesn't have much to do with it - apologies for shuffling content around) Has anyone successfully applied all the power saving tricks that worked for the X210 to the X2100? I haven't been able to get the power consumption under 7W at idle, ...

Re: X210/X2100 embedded controller fixes (was: X210 EC datasheet/better brightness control)
Opening this can of worms back up - the EC fixes so far are pretty impressive, but there are still some troublesome issues with this machine. In particular, I'd like to try and figure out USB-C charging properly, I'm sure people have noticed the charge / not charging cycling with smaller chargers ev...

When I modified the X210 BIOS, that's the first thing I did. Removed the stock BIOS chip for safekeeping, installed one of these (https://www.adafruit.com/product/4726) and bought several extra blank chips. Good luck!

Re: Is xytech (xyte.ch) responding to anybody?
FWIW I get roughly the same input power (~7-8W) with the latest BIOS he posted, but no OS-side tweaks at all. I remember there was a thread somewhere here about optimizing the power consumption on the X210 that knocked off another couple of watts. I haven't tried applying it to the X2100, but I imag...

[Solved] X2100 USB-C charging not working?
Hi, Anyone else experienced the thing where charging cycles on and off in about 1-2 second period? I have a Thunderbolt 3 dock that's supposed to be able to charge at 85W - I assumed that USB-PD should be independent of the Thunderbolt functionality. I've tried the "slow charge" EC mod as well as t...

Hi, Not sure where to look / ask so I've sort of been making the rounds. I recently unearthed my childhood Panasonic CF-1000 laptop in my parents closet - but of course it doesn't work anymore. I tried some fixes (recapping etc) but so far I haven't had any luck. So I've been looking for another com...

X2100 Coreboot (separating for readability)
Hi all- I wanted to start this thread to discuss Coreboot on the X2100 as opposed to the X210 - since it has distinct issues& solutions. Mods, please let me know if it's annoying or not suggested and I can copy this back into the other thread. Mainly, the X2100 port did not get upstreamed, and as I ...

Just managed to build mjg59's coreboot version for the X2100 , it seems to run fine. . Nope, the keyboard doesn't work at all in the Tianocore picker. Once I figure out how to get back into Ubuntu.... let's see what can be done. It takes a bit of fiddling, since it's based on an older version of cor...

Difference between X201 & X200s covers (On X210s)?
Hi, I currently have 2 X210s, one with the 2K (1920x1200) screen and the other with the 3K screen (2880x1920, I believe). The former is from Jacky a long time ago and has a poorly trimmed bezel which says X201, and the latter is from XYTech and has a nicely trimmed X200s bezel. I found out randomly ...

Visual differences / identifying features between X210 batches?
Hi, I'm trying to figure out which batch of X210 board I have, but I'm unclear if there are any identifying marks / visual differences between them that would allow me to do so. XYTech's website has a list of differences (https://www.xyte.ch/mods/x210-x2100/ halfway down) but they're not super concl...

I just tried out your EFI (updated yesterday, right?) as-is. Several interesting observations: - My keyboard works in the picker! - Acceleration works in Monterey, including sleep! Much better than what I had before. - Any idea why it's necessary to fake an Iris 645 though, instead of the UHD620 we ...

Hi, I think we might want to try VoodooRMI, I'm pretty sure the TrackPAD is SMBus / Synaptics. I have a different problem- when the TrackPAD (palmrest) and Trackpoint (red nub) are both attached, the Trackpoint is extremely jumpy. If I remove the palmrest, it works just fine... In either case Trackp...

Ah, on some things you're doing better than me. My brightness KEYS work, but they do nothing (are you using Brightness Slider app)? My trackpoint is also really jerky. However I was a bit lazy and just downloaded the SSDTs for my laptop. Did you use SSDTime or manual configuration? You have a lot mo...

Anyone with a 1st batch X210 willing to help me run some tests?
Hi all- I've recently had some time to revisit my Thunderbolt 3 project for my X210. One of the outstanding issues is that it relies on having the mSATA slot reflashed to mPCIE so I can use that, which I've posted about before I think. The required change can be made with Intel CSME / Flash Descript...

Re: X210 WWAN /mSATA port does mPCIE!
I'm not sure it does. As far as I can tell, you can only combine adjacent slots. The mapping I have so far is: Controller 1: Port 1 - USB 3 #1, Port 2 - USB 3 #2, Port 3 - Ethernet, Port 4 - lower mPCIE Controller 2: Port 1 - ?, Port 2 - ?, Port 3 - upper mPCIE, Port 4 - 2.5" SATA Controller 3: 4x M...

Re: X210 WWAN /mSATA port does mPCIE!
Interesting idea.
However, that doesn't really help my use case - I wanted to combine the two slots to get an x2 device. If I can't even get devices to work properly at x1 in the first slot, there's no use in taking the clock lines and making the other one into an x1 port either...

Re: X210 miniPCIe eGPU?
I don't think a diff of the BIOS will show changes to the firmware descriptor blobs, as modified with FIT. For coreboot the same applies, you still need to use the same descriptor blobs. Plus I've already tried a bunch of things with coreboot and I got the exact same errors / results...

Re: X210 miniPCIe eGPU?
I doubt it. USB 3.x has extra differential pairs in it, separately from the regular D+/D- that are used in USB 2.0 (those are kept for "backwards compatibility"). You could maybe get a shielded USB 2.0 cable (which is a thing) though, that may help. Did you try the same method on the upper slot (aft...
