Re: Thinkpad T530 - Fan Comes On As Soon AS Compter Turns On

Always wise to repaste a laptop that you buy used. Some tend to have the original paste that was never replaced, or have its heatsink dusted. It's bad when it's solidified and becomes a chore to scrape off! Unless you get a plastic spudger used to remove car decals, it could make that job easier. Wh...

Re: X131e Fan noise emissions from different manufacturers

There are 2 options: 04W6857 N Thermal Module DELTA 04W6858 N Thermal Module AVC Either one should be better than the Panasonic. And new decent thermal paste, like Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut, would help a lot as well. I'll look for those fans and get one of them when I manage to disassemble the thing...

X131e Fan noise emissions from different manufacturers

I've had my X131e as long as I've been on this forum but now since 6 years has passed, I feel like I could make a change to my X131e so it's less irritating when I use it. The fan revs up even when at the login screen and is really irritating. I had a look inside the thing to see what fan it has, an...

Re: ThinkPad T61 Intel Graphics Windows 10 (1903) general lag

I've been toying around with the install and made just the one change where the transparency isn't on. I tried old drivers which kind of worked but since they were windows 7 drivers it crashed often. Driver side of course. My findings resulted in turning off the fancy effects of the windows and its ...

ThinkPad T61 Intel Graphics Windows 10 (1903) general lag

I installed Windows 10 Pro (1903) on my T61 so there's more adequate use out of it, but I ran into some hitches. This is 32bit as I don't have the sufficient funds to get 8GB RAM for 64bit, so I'm on 3GB at the moment. The first hitch is RAM usage, keeps using about 60% despite not running much (pro...

Re: what SSD do you run?

X131e is using a Crucial MX500 250GB, flawless. T61 is using a Crucial M4 256GB 7mm SSD (that's about 6yrs old that SSD, it was in my X230, then in my Elitebook 8470p and now its new home is the T61 Middleton BIOSed) My Elitebook 8470p uses a 500GB WD Blue 2.5in SATA SSD which is pretty fast for £50...

New battery needed for widescreen T61 14.1in - Suggestions?

So I've had a bit of bad luck with the 42T4677 FRU for mine from eBay, while it fit, it didn't have much life left. Now I'm uncertain what my next port of call is for a new battery, and I had a look at third-party replacements but I'm not absolutely sure who to go for. I looked at BattDepot, but saw...

The 14.1in widescreen I'm referring to, yes. I'm going to hunt for that particular panel then, as long as the resolution's pretty nice and the display is nice too then I'm not fussed with CCFL.

T61 Panel upgrades (1280x800 to 1440x900)

I have this T61 which is in good shape (although it needs a new battery and an 8GB RAM upgrade...) but the panel I'm not so fond of and was wondering if anyone has done any upgrade from the CCFL panel to a LED 1440x900, or CCFL 1440x900 yet a bit brighter? I'd appreciate any advice about it!

It appears the laptop is dead and is now sitting waiting to be stripped for parts. Old post, but it's a quick update that it's a non-functioning machine because I've replaced and reseated every part, tried other adapters and whatnot but the verdict is that it's dead.

Re: YOUR FIRST COMPUTER?

I was fortunate to receive an old Compaq Armada E500 at the age of 7. Before that, I was using an old Amiga 500 to play Putty! The Compaq sported 1400x1050 and ATI Rage graphics and a P3. It had 64MB RAM, but upgraded to 192MB with Windows 2000 Professional, then XP Pro (which unfortunately downgrad...

I'd only buy if they brought back the original Lenovo logo, the new one is just tacky looking and a little sketchy to the point of the logo looking like a rip-off brand. As a ThinkPadder, I like the Lenovo logo in it's original form. It just doesn't cut it if you colour the ThinkPad logo. Keeping th...

Can the X230 now be able to use 32GB Unofficially?

I was wondering about this, because a company released 16GB modules (I don't mean 2 of the 8GB modules) and I was going to ask if anyone has attempted to use more than 16GB in their X230.
