Re: Application "tpvolbar"?

Hello all, I have been having this issue intermittently on my T60p running Windows XP for ages now but just figured out the solution! When TPVOLBAR freezes, just End Task in the Applications tab of Windows Task Manager. I did a full search of my disk for TPVOLBAR and also found nothing, but if you n...

Hello, I am wondering if any of you have experience contributing to ThinkWiki. I finally made a MediaWiki to try and edit a page, but ThinkWiki won't recognize the account. And yes, I have activated it by e-mail, but I still can't break in! Tried it in multiple browsers and disabled uBlock & Ghoster...

Re: HUGE RARE VINTAGE LAPTOP COLLECTION, MOSTLY THINKPADS

Hi Khipata,

Thank you for the response & clarification.
I didn't realize that all of these were strictly museum pieces.
Thanks for the recommendation!

WTB: Reflective/Transflective ThinkPad

Hello, Hopefully this is a better place to post! I am looking for a secondary ThinkPad which can be used in various ambient lights — mainly something that won't keep me up at night, though the ability to use it on a sunny day (like in direct sunlight) would be nice as well. Now, according to Wikiped...

Re: HUGE RARE VINTAGE LAPTOP COLLECTION, MOSTLY THINKPADS

Hi Khipata,

I'm still hoping to buy one of your monochrome or otherwise reflective/transflective/front-lit/usable-in-low-light portable machines!

Thanks,
Thomas

Hello Khipata,

I hope this message finds you well!

I have sent you a DM.

I am wondering about your machines; especially their display properties, as described in this post.

Best wishes,
Thomas

Can anyone here tell me about their experience with their front-lit ThinkPads? Monochrome or colour? in past or present??

Re: Reflective/Transflective ThinkPads!

Interesting! Mine is a 15" T60p with plain old TFT screen to clarify (DEFINITELY not FlexView, as I learned after ordering it!) :P Also, I have seen the X60 advertised as "MultiView" which I read somewhere it was transflective, but it's still backlit, so it might be good outside, but I can't imagine...

Reflective/Transflective ThinkPads!

Hello fellow ThinkPadders! :) I have a wonderful T60p that I love dearly and use daily (despite its broken rollcage) but the monitor is pretty sensitive to the ambient light. It is usually fine indoors but the screen isn't very bright so it's not really usable. It isn't very even either, especially ...

Re: T60 T61 fan lubrication - illustrated guide by msb0b inside

Hi, So, for those of us still using our T60s: Did any one particular lubricant result in a permanent repair? To me, "permanent" means 2-3 years of 12 hour/day use. Besides the fluids and greases discussed upthread, I've also seen graphite recommended elsewhere. With new fans available for $10 and co...

The Lenovo Bluetooth driver with Enhanced Data Rate is installed.
Can someone tell me how to disable the Windows XP Bluetooth stack?

I happen to have a full copy of Windows 98 SE with genuine product key still in the original shrinkwrap with an AOL trial disc and setup guide, but I think I'll be keeping it around just in case I need it — you never know when you might need something like that!

I'd check eBay if I were you!

Re: Upgrading an I-Series 1410/1450?

I'll just add that I upgraded my i Series 1400/1500 ThinkPad to Windows 2000, and I think it's quite a bit slower, though your life will be much easier getting modern compatible software like an up-to-date Web browser!
So yeah, it depends on what you want to do with it for sure.

Good luck! :)

I was looking to reinstall Windows XP on my T60p since it has slowed down and developed a number of problems over the years with corrupted system files, (e.g., Open/Save dialog issues, Firefox's menu bar is corrupted, Windows Media Player won’t roll back below version 10 anymore, etc.) But then I th...

You're welcome!

Yeah I guess if you have an android phone it would be great to have continuity between computer and phone browsing. I've tried to do the same — it'd be great to have the favorites on both, but I use a BlackBerry so I couldn't get that if I wanted to! XD

I just have to say, Windows XP in Classic mode with ineXPerience and K-Meleon for a Web browser does wonders for these older machines!
K-Meleon 76 Beta 3 is the latest (mostly) stable version.

Good luck with your new ThinkPad! :)

I found the same thing; it seems really complicated and not very user-friendly which is why I juts got rid of it at first. Re: Where do you guys source batteries from?

The official Lenovo ones are so ridiculously expensive, so I bought the cheapest ones I could find on eBay. They worked fine, except they're actually slightly larger than the real ones so my T60p won't dock properly if it's in, or even at all! Also, the official Lenovo-branded ones I have are Sony a...

There probably isn't a lot of difference between backups which is why I want incremental capability.
Why do you run things in a virtual machine? Wouldn't that be slower? I only do that when I seriously screwing around and don't want to mess up my actual installation!

I will have to check this out - very cool. Temetka makes a valid point about newer systems - but of course we don't all run in unlimited RAM scenarios. Re: Who still uses a IBM ThinkPad as their daily?

I use my IBM ThinkPad T60p with Windows XP Professional for everything! It's branded IBM, and it was the last to be at least in part designed by IBM, so I think it should count as an IBM ThinkPad. The T61 is where I draw the line not only because of the obvious branding, but the design decisions sta...

Hello, I am wondering if there was ever a non-bloated version of Access Connections for the T60/p. My current version does its job, but it's very slow to start up.
