Oh.. More kits... Drool... End of the month can't come soon enough!

So these are only compatible with T420s/T430s right?

Cheers!

Re: T430s: Meltdown/Spectre BIOS Update, 2356 missing on list

I suspect there's no difference, unless the CPU is magically an AMD one. It's just a listing difference. I am going to cry, though as I really enjoy having my hacked T420s BIOS with the admin mode, now I'll have to hope for an updated variant to unlock the goodies, let alone the darn white lists wil...

Re: USB-C in t420/t430

That could possibly work, but the biggest issue is getting the USB-C port to the side of the machine. You'd have to modify stuff and try to find a way to mount the female end in the side to keep it anchored while finding safe routing for the cable. They make some pretty thin USB-C cables but if they...

Aliexpress is notorious for goods of highly questionable quality. I'm always leery about using it because they themselves don't care if sellers are selling knockoffs and counterfeit parts. There's also a very strong possibility that the screen is legit but it failed the quality checks at the factory.

Re: Tips on buying a T420/T420s/or T430?

Something else I forgot to mention is... The BT module used is interchangeable. My T61 has a 4.1 module, in place of it's 2.1 module. Bluetooth 4.0 and 4.1 are a driver upgrade, 4.2 requires slightly different hardware in chip. The Intel 7260 AC WiFi module that Lenovo used has the built in BT disab...

That's a pain in the [censored] display(There's a possible upgrade panel but the connector is different, so it's a risky one). That's exactly why I started to phase out my XGA displays on A30 and all my T4x machines and donated a 15" LCD's CCFL bulb to IDTech IAUX14S UXGA IPS. I can tell you that t...

Re: Tips on buying a T420/T420s/or T430?

I have a T420s with the top of the line spec, i7-2640M. It can run warm, but it will run quite cool most of the time. Make sure you upgrade the thermal paste, and if you have a machine with the older PWM fan equipped cooler, get the upgraded cooler with the non-PWM fan. Bad fan = 4 wires, good fan =...

Considering the availability of 3:2 screens... I'm really really hoping this thing gets a 3:2 IPS 1920x1280 display at the minimum. Give me a socket for the CPU, and at least 2 DIMM slots, with a bay for battery/hdd(SSD)/optical drive... Yum! Will have to wait and see... My trust in Lenovo isn't so ...

Re: Reasons why the 14" screen got terrible options.

Ehhh... I think my 14.1" widescreen T61 is fine, the original panel was pretty crap though, and until you put it next to my T420s, then it looks brutal. I used that T61 for years as my university machine, so I did lots of reports on it and other heavy reading, data processing stuff on it. Honestly t...

Re: How many interest in a WQHD (2K) kit for T420s and T430s?

I have to admit, I really like my T420s with it's FHD screen. It completely destroys my T61 and I hunted down the best screen I could get for it. I really like my T420s, but honestly considering the gpu horsepower needed, I think I'd look at the T430 series for a 2K screen. I'd be up to get one for ...

I ran my stock as a rock NVS140M mobo that wasn't Penryn compatible every day for like 5 or 6 years, when I managed to score a NIB reissue motherboard. Re: T61 and streaming video (NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M)

I can agree Win 10 on these machines seems to be very fickle with streaming video. I actually put my CrystalHD(the 70015 version, the 70012 is pretty limited in it's capability) back in, installed the drivers, and it seems to be helping. Watching HD HTML5 video, and my T9300 is bouncing around 20-30...

I installed the kit with my 1.3 matte screen... Oh my the screen is a massive upgrade in picture. I put it up beside my T61 and it really shows the colour difference between IPS and TN screens. The install was pretty simple, but a few notes of wisdom... DON'T do the install with any power connected....

It's difficult to describe. Let me correct myself. Having installed the Chicony keyboard in the W520, it actually feels quite nice. To be honest, I really wouldn't be able to tell which one I am using (Chicony or NMB). I spent a lot of money on securing NMB specifically from the US, could have done...

Re: 1 minute until fully charged....

When this starts happening, I do the gauge reset, and the result tends to be a capacity change. Its all so because the battery charge circuitry is trying to get the battery to a certain voltage, ad the battery is resisting. So eventually, the charger just gives up, and tells you it's full. As long a...

I know with my T61, my NMB is amazing, its still my preferred keyboard. Though finding a new US layout or even an Ancor layout...
