Keyboard stickers for ThinkPad T400/T410/T420 and T500/T510/T520 Series

The topic title says all. Does anyone here use stickers? The supply of keyboards, specially in odd languages, is running dry.

Re: T60p 2007WUK - Toast motherboard

If it's a 15" T60 you need the interposer board from the 15" T60 motherboard. No other parts are needed. You do need to remove or file down some magnesium frame as the Modem card placement changed between the two series, and I believe Modem functionality is eliminated. Thanks for the information on...

Ditto, you can get the 14.1" 4:3 T61 non-widescreen motherboards here: https://www.theboardroom.info/t61mobo.html
Please remind me again, if I have a T60 shell and the T61 planar, what other parts do I need?

I'm looking for information on A31p UXGA panels

So... the UXGA panel in my A31p died. What are my replacement options?

I could compromise on IPS, but I want the maximum resolution (1600x1200).

Re: 15-inch T60's or Frankies in a slave array

With VGA converters, USB adapters, ThinkPad USB keyboards, a Dremel, and a lot of patience, you might make some real terminals. I'm considering this for the middle term, when a T61 planar with NVS 140M no longer has acceptable performance.

They can also be Chicony and ALPS (at least I've confirmed swapping Chicony keycaps works okay, presumably the same for ALPS). An aggravating amount of bending of the little "hooks" that hold the keys in place is necessary to make the Chicony *4* keys fit into a *6* keyboard. I know, I'm typing thi...

Re: Frankenpad lives! Question about T60 battery

Nowadays the unwashed brainless designers at Lenovo make a different battery for almost every model laptop. On a less cynical view, there is an industry-wide tendency to make the batteries smaller. Lithium batteries were always risky, and the only way to minimize potential damage is to use less mat...

A T6x keyboard can have T4x Fn and Back/Forward keys (also Caps Lock, I think) installed, provided that both keyboards are NMB, and you transfer the key cap and the "scissors".

To get colored mouse buttons, a mod is required.

Try Media Player Classic Home Cinema with 1080p video on your T42p, and please report the result.

Re: Thinkpad T60 and T61 to form frankenpad

T61 hinges do feel cheaper than the ones on T60s. Very early hinges on some T60 machines (distinct black barrel + steel design as opposed to magnesium block), which had a similar design to T4* hinges, tend to have very minimal wobble. In my experience, usually only the right hinge will have tiny pl...

You should be warned that what you want, space and resolution as priority, will demand time, money and it may kill you. Yes, kill you as in death. Re: A31p - a decade later (LONG)

Even on a T60 you will run into minor problems. My T60 with a T5500 CPU (1.66GHz, CPU Mark 929, 64bit) struggles with 1080p video on YouTube because of the single threaded browser decoder; there are several gimmicks to play those on an external viewer, or to select a lower default quality, but it's ...

To be perfectly honest, I prefer the original DBU/IDTech UXGA FlexView LCD to any other LCD I've ever seen, including Hydis. Probably, but those are already scarce and the idea here is to unify parts across my A31p and my T60. One panel type for all, then some hoarding. I will look for information ...

Out of curiosity, is it possible to use *6*, say a T60 panel, on an A31p, provided it is one with a 1600x1200 resolution?
It would be nice if so, because then those BoeHydis modded panels would be an option.

So, it is the polarizer. It's good to know.

I see that polarizer films can be bought as sheets, not only scavenged from panels. Those tend to be expensive, but at least there is an alternative.

Re: Replacement ccfl backlight tubes?

The airtight storage is a great idea. It can't do any harm, but it must be done properly. Many plastics leak chlorine, and even those that don't actually leak air over time. While reading the IPS xbitlabs article mentioned in that thread, I found this: "When voltage is applied to a cell, the crystal...

I'm still reading the thread that RBS linked.

I'm thinking on stocking panels for future use, and I need to know if they degrade in storage, or only while being used. Those will be retrofitted with LED backlights.
