Re: T43 slow browsing with xp
Here's the thing: Browsing will never work fast on this no matter what OS or program you use. It's simply too old. You lack stuff like GPU rendering for videos and ram caps at a fairly low amount, especially for modern web pages. It's not hard for something like a gmail tab to be eating 400-500 megs...

Recovery partition isn't really needed.
Go to http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/search and enter the product code from the bottom (ex 2522-AZ4 for my T410) and it'll give you a list of the drivers after you select which OS you run.

Re: Core i7 2760QM in a T420
Oh yeah, I'm aware. I already have a 2670QM (not 2760QM...the models are so similar though) on hand.
I wouldn't imagine the heat\battery life of a quad-core T420 Intel graphics to be much worse than my T410 nVidia. 35W CPU + 14W GPU vs 45W CPU which has the graphics built in.

Here we go, think I found it. http://thinkpad-forum.de/threads/170582 ... re-im-T420
Looking through the rough google translate it makes enough sense that nothing was really changed other than swapping the chip which itself isn't too hard of a task.

Re: My friend may have bricked my T420. Would appreciate adv
Just sink water myself as I didn't have anything to lose - if it did any more damage it was already deemed dead to start with. Afterwards I let it sit outside for a couple days on some bricks to dry off and tested it.tsivist wrote:Interesting -- what method did you use to wash the motherboard?
Thanks!

Core i7 2760QM in a T420
I have a somewhat trashed Dell L502x here with a 2760QM however it's a tad heavy for every day carry and the screen sucks. Getting to the question, has anyone tried putting an i7 2760QM into a Thinkpad T420? I'm well aware that it'll run warm and battery life won't be as great as the stock i5 or i7 ...

Re: My friend may have bricked my T420. Would appreciate adv
I was given a Inspiron N4110 that had water dumped on it as well. It had also sat for a few days and was already dry inside yet what interestingly revived it was taking out the motherboard and giving it a wash. After that it started up fine as if nothing ever happened - sans the keyboard.

Re: How far back do coffee resistant keyboards go? Thinking
Here's another way of connecting a 2nd screen to the laptop. I'm reusing old screenshots but I did post instructions below each screen. This way just uses the built in Windows display support rather than the Lenovo utility. http://imgur.com/a/qQPBH If this doesn't work it's also worth trying to upda...

My 500 gig WD Blue drive decided to fail in my T410, figured I would get a SSD. Picked up a 256 gig Crucial MX100 SSD. Not the best on the market but there's not a lot negative on it and has power loss capacitors which is nice since I tend to run my Thinkpad battery dead. http://goput.it/er6.jpg Als...

Re: Thinkpad T410 Wireless card
It's the best worth buying imo for N. Mine has the Intel 6300 AGN card which is N450 but very very very few access points support more than N300. You do occasionally find N600 but not very often.

Thinkpad T61 Motherboard Swap
My brother managed to pick up a (really nice condition) Thinkpad T61 for about $3, however, it's an nVidia model. Being as it's suffering from a failed GPU (made in October 2007) I figure I'll replace the motherboard. To get to the question, are there any significant differences between the Intel an...

Re: T410 - 2522-AT5
I wouldn't consider it a horrible price, it's still cheaper for performance than any other new laptop of the price. I personally got my T410 for $220 USD which is almost identical to that except I added my own WWAN card and mine has the 1440x900 screen. The screen shouldn't be too hard to swap anywa...

Thinkpad T410: Can't use trackpad while using keyboard
After 2 months I'm quite happy with my T410 over my Latitude E6400 (that died), although I do have one major annoyance: I can't use the trackpad while pressing a keyboard key. This is something that I used all the time for 3D modeling and the occasional game, however not being able to do this means ...

Re: Upgrade CPU on T500
The battery life will be slightly increased with the 28W CPU, but if the 35W is cheaper I would just go with that, the difference won't be significant.
I also would warn against going with a T9800 and T9900 - they're more expensive than they're worth.

Re: Why am I not feeling the "love" for the X220?
I personally agree with removing anything you don't need that came my default. Most of the Lenovo tools you'll probably never use (such as Access Connections and Security Solution) and are just taking up space and resources doing nothing. I wouldn't be quick to jump on replacing the drive either, I ...

Re: Something new you've got! *PICS*
Both of these are "new" to me. It's amazing how much they've changed in 10 years. Left is a 600X. It's a 500 MHz Pentium III, 64 megs ram, 12 gig hard drive, DVD-ROM and Floppy Drive. Grabbed it off Freecycle. Right is a T410. It's a 2.4 GHz Core i5 520M, 6 gigs ram, 160 gig hard drive (planning on ...

Re: T500 General question and ask for advice
I personally would swap the T5870 with a T9600, which is around $30 on ebay and will feel much faster. The previous laptop I had was a Latitude with a T9800 and 4 gigs of ram, it started up and responded a lot faster than those cheap Core i3 systems most people are getting today, despite being "slow...

Thinkpad 600X: Really bad default typeset (font)? *PICS*
I picked up this Thinkpad 600X from Freecycle today, however I have to say this default typeset is horrible, and is driving me insane. Here's a screenshot of what I'm talking about (click images for larger versions): http://www.kawakami-ca.com/images/600x_screen_font1_small.jpg http://www.kawakami-c...

Thinkpad 560X LCD panel, is it custom or generic?
Well, once again a stupid problem. I have a Thinkpad 560X I've owned forever, however the LCD managed to get broken when I dropped a server on the box it was in (but hey, the casing is still in fairly good condition, and it still boots). The thing I haven't yet done though is take apart the LCD casi...

Dell PA-10 Adapters on a T410; will they work?
After owning Latitudes forever, my last Latitude suffered a motherboard failure. I recently purchased a Thinkpad T410 as a replacement, which has a cord, however I still have 3 PA-10 cords left from the Latitude. I'm curious to know if these will work or not. Both the Thinkpad a Dell cords are the s...
