Now it doesn't boot at all, the status and Ethernet lights will turn on for a second, nothing else, not even the fan.

Re: Thinkpad x200 shuts itself off after just a couple minutes.
Any loose piece of metal in the case causing a short? I'd also check the logs in debian to see if there was any specific error before the shutdowns. I removed the little shield thing, and now it will last an hour or even more, and now, when it shuts down I don't need to remove the battery or AC ada...

Re: Thinkpad x200 shuts itself off after just a couple minutes.
Have you checked that your fan is actually running? Could the air-inlet (on the bottom) be dusted up? The fan is running without any problem, it will go through all the 7 speeds with Tpfancontrol, it's a little noisy, like it needs some lubrication. I cleaned the case before putting it back together.

Re: Thinkpad x200 shuts itself off after just a couple minutes.
How likely is for the keyboard to create a short circuit, or for the fan to be the problem?

Thinkpad x200 shuts itself off after just a couple minutes.
So here is the thing, my x200 was working flawlessly until last friday, when it shut down immediately after trying to wake it up from sleep mode (under Debian), as if it overheated (althoug it was not hot at all). After this, it will only keept itself on for a couple minutes on either Windows 10 or ...

What about a X61? It would cost me almost the same (with the docking station and a decent battery) as a T60

Re: A Thinkpad for my dad
You might help your cause if you said what you're looking to spend. I would think the X220 would be a good replacement for the Atom and you can hook up a screen to make it a desktop. Not that much, I still have my T62p (T500 mobo frankenpad) project, and a VW Bug 91 restoration too, so... I'm likel...

A Thinkpad for my dad
So I want to give my dad a Thinkpad for replace his old Pentium 4 Desktop and Atom Netbook, first I was thinking about fixing my T61 14.1w, but then I was thinking, does it worth? I meant, it needs a new display, screen bezel, palmrest, battery and another stuff, and is not like it was the best Thin...

Re: WTB: 15" T60 Body & Screen (For a possible Frankenpad project)
I don't think it's possible to use the Ultrabay on a T60 after converting it with a widescreen mainboard. If el-sahef and nobody at nb51 has been able to do it, it's probably not possible. Well, It's time for this forum to be the first in something no? Never underestimate the power of Mexican ingen...

Re: WTB: 15" T60 Body & Screen (For a possible Frankenpad project)
el-sahef is probably the most talented modder I've ever come across. He has helped me on many occasions, such as my X301 AFFS mod. (still WIP) Me too  , his work is awesome, I Was hoping to be able to use the ultrabay on the Slimmer T60 body, maybe I will ending up using my "Mexican ingenuity"...

Re: WTB: 15" T60 Body & Screen (For a possible Frankenpad project)
On a different note, Is a R400 Mobo compatible with a T400 body? I found a cheap death Mobo T400 in Mexico, and I was thinking about fixing and giving it to my dad, instead of fixing my ex-T61 for him, but for some reason, T400 Motherboards costs at least the double in comparison with the R400 ones

It seems el-sahef on the German Thinkpad forum converted a R500 mobo successfully. I was one of the fortunates (or unfortunates? :? ) who happens to own a eligible battery (from a X200 I recently bought), I already sent my request for the new battery (using the manual method since I'm a Linux user). Re: WTB: 15" T60 Body & Screen (For a possible Frankenpad project)
There are no T500/W500 mainboards in 4:3 form factor. Due to connector compatibility reasons it is either a 4:3/T61 mainboard with DDR2 RAM or better forget about your project. Even if you had a variant of this here in mind (viewtopic.php?f=29&t=110323) , swapping a T500/W500 16:10/15.4" mainboard ...

WTB: 15" T60 Body & Screen (For a possible Frankenpad project)
Hi :D , I'm thinking about building myself a 4:3 Frankenpad, after looking my options, I think I will go for a 15" one. What I need is the complete (good shape, and preferably with IBM Logos) body without motherboard (or with a dead one), HDD (but the caddy and cover), RAM and keyboard. I also need ...

I have all the parts you need to fix this, some of them are very inexpensive. If you'd like to send me a list of the parts you need I can give you an estimate and shipping cost. I'll need the 7 digit model number of your T61. Thanks TuuS, but sadly, my T61 will need to wait (Maybe 1 year  ) , ...
