Re: eBay Score T61p

Nice find! I abused loved my T61p since I received it new in October of 2007, until I officially retired it in favor of the W520 I have in my sig. in early 2015. Aside from the well known GPU issue (which as many have said, with these being 11-12 years old now, that would be common with any system) ...

Re: FS: A handful of T400s in various conditions

I am. Shipping internationally is not out of the question but can be cost prohibitive, I'd say. Usually $40-$50 to ship overseas (although I can fit two into one box, if I omit the AC adapters, which makes it slightly less horrific), compared to the $12-$13 it is to ship domestically. If you're inte...

FS: A handful of T400s in various conditions

Got a handful of T400s to sell off. Type is 2768-GY8 on the first two. Number 3 is 2768-KQ9 and the last is 2768-CTO. All have the same basic specs. Unit 4 has no RAM or HDD: CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 (2.53 GHz) "Penryn" RAM: 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3-8500 HDD: 160GB 7200RPM GPU: ATi Radeon HD 3470 OS: Win...

Re: What is a brand new T61P worth?

I'll add my experiences as well. I've worked with maybe 30 T61s, all 14" widescreen NVS 140 models, and I don't recall any of them failing of the defect either. Most are dated October 2007. Now, for the T61p with the FX570m? I've worked with five of them, and four have either died the nVidia death, ...

I have everything you need for the 14.1" 16:10 T61. If interested send me an offer, and I can send pics as well. I can send an entire machine you can use for parts as well, if you'd rather go that route. Since you're only a couple hours' drive from here zone based USPS Priority shipping should be on...

Re: What is a brand new T61P worth?

Yes, GPU (not sure how I missed that typo!). As was said, look for the date code in week and year of manufacture. Nobody knows exactly what week the chip problem had been revised by on the assembly line though. I've had the luxury of having come across numerous 0809 dated nvidia T61s to sell. I stil...

Re: What is a brand new T61P worth?

Well, it's by no means brand new... it's just well cared for. The fact that there is hinge play speaks that it was used regularly for a time, possibly with a docking station and an external mouse and keyboard - which would explain the lack of wear. I remember when my T61p was brand new, the hinges w...

Re: Recovery Set Repository

I'd be happy to share what I have for the 600 series. I have two sets for the 600 and two for the 600X; nothing explicitly for the 600E unfortunately (yet, anyway! :D).

I'll send a PM with a link shortly.

If you come across anything that you're willing to share, I'd be very grateful!

We use FOG in our production environments at work. A little more setup involved but it's quick and snappy to restore whenever needed.

Re: Custom recovery mode from RnR Partition on x41t

From what I've seen of most (recent) factory recoveries, they take a system image of the C drive and save it to the recovery partition. Since it's just a hard disk image, there isn't a way that I'm aware of to update or add software to it. With the Windows 7 or newer recoveries you could use the bui...

Interesting, I stand rightly corrected. Now that you bring it up I have also seen some models with a small rubber plug that goes over a connection that's adjacent to the power plug, which I read somewhere was a dock connector.

Re: T25 charging via Thunderbolt 3 and Lenovo Workstation Thunderbolt Dock

These types of docks do not offer charging through the input port. Think of it this way - you can't charge a computer using a powered USB hub or dock over the USB port! The Thunderbolt port can only charge the ThinkPad using the dedicated USB-C type chargers. The Thunderbolt (and USB) docks do not c...

Yeah, they sent that to me too. They've got good feedback and I know the Chinese new year is right about now, so I'm inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt, for the 2-3 weeks they're asking for anyway. Well within the "file a claim" window if it does turn out to be a hoax.
