Re: Firefox will become the only safe browser on Windows 10

Yes going from Chrome to Firefox should be a no brainer but running No-Script can also help. It takes a bit of setting up for websites but you can exclude some Google and other odd scripts for lighter browsing.

It would be grat if you could do the benchmark with your non-modified unit. Re: x301 complete overhaul + FSB overclocking + pictures

I really like what you have done with your X301 and I still use mine daily. The screen ratio / resolution suits me and I like the build. The soldering for the FSB overclock mod is probably beyond me but I might get someone in Perth to do the job for me. For what I do on the X301 I have enough power ...

Re: Firefox will become the only safe browser on Windows 10

Internet censorship has started to increase and this is just the beginning. I have gone from Chrome to Firefox. I aim to eventually eradicate anything Google or Microsoft from my use. I still run Windows 7 which is locked down and I do dual boot my X220 with Linux. Unfortunately there are not too ma...

Re: ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 with 65W charger

If your battery on your T420 requires charging when you plug it into your dock I would allow time for it to charge before using it with the 65 watt charger. Also you can monitor how hard the adapter is working by feeling how much heat it is putting out. This will also apply even when undocked and ev...

Depends on what you are using it for. A T40 doesn't strike me as an internet option.

Why don't you just use it as is and see how you go?

Re: Questions on purchasing new components for a T40 and T43

I have a T43 and a T41 that I would be interested in selling and I live in Perth and I will be back in Perth in about 2 weeks. My T43 is a 14 inch XGA and has the 2.13 GHz CPU X300 GPU and 160 GB HD or we could fix you up with parts that you need. It would probably be cheaper to purchase a complete ...

Re: High cpu usage on t440s

You have to check data uploaded and downloaded through your network icon on the taskbar. I found data usage in services couldn't be trusted. In reality it is probably updating to the latest version which is 1809 I think. It is probably safer to defer updates but that is your call. I would ramp up yo...

Shutdown all the unneeded W10 spyware and stop W10 from uploading your system to other users. It is a while since I have used W10 but you can research on the internet. Check your data uploaded and downloaded to investigate further. How long have you had the machine and how long do you let it sit? Wh...

Re: Do R52's have any collectability value?

Hello from Australia. batteries as well as hard drives (incl. cradles/caddy) are all missing and there is no power supply either, I wouldn't buy them because they are not complete so after you spend $30 you have to spend more money. Calculate how much you would have to spend first. I have some T43's...

Re: No Internet or IP address on X220

It was probably the WIFI switch which was jarred enough to stop it working. To access the WIFI card I think you have to remove the keyboard and the palmrest. Also the card has a retaining screw and they generally survive a fall. it is hard to see them doing that for free especially if it is a comput...

But why isn't it addressed?

Re: Finally the correct description of what Americans call football.

Most sports get taken over by commercial interests to some degree and we only need to look at FIFA to see how that goes.

International Rugby Union is enjoyable to watch.

Personally my favorite is Aussie Rules football and we tend to mainly like the football we grew up following.

Towards the later stages of last century computer technology and engineering merged in F!.

Yes this is a pity as I find them more versatile and hopefully this will change but not likely.

2.5 inch SSDs are that cheap you can just buy a spare as a backup drive or as I have for a smaller data drive.
