Re: Great games for the T60P ?

Played a lot on 15" T60p. Copper shim GPU mod and custom fan profile by IBMECW, GPU temperature did not exceed 80C at max fan RPM. I tested these games on it and had no problems with such settings: -GTA Vice City / San Andreas (1600x1200 max); -Max Payne / Max Payne 2 (1600x1200 max); -Postal 2 / Pa...

Re: Flexing-issue on T60p 15 inch: possible?

BigCatAndy, my friend has T60p with busted FireGL v5200, laptop showing artifacts. Heat gun fix temporarily solved the problem for him. I advise you don't overheat your T60p, its realy hot notebook, GPU temp can easily go up to 100 degrees causing flexing problem. I'm playing games on my T60p a lot ...

Boot problem is back again.
I found switching "quick boot" to "diagnostics boot" in BIOS setup solves the problem. But it takes more time to POST.

Re: SSD guide for T60P

There are no special recommendations about configuring SSD, just enable AHCI SATA mode in BIOS. You can use SATAI due to chipset limitations, ICH7M Southbridge doesn't support SATAII. I don't know what SSD to recommend, Russian 3dnews site have reliability tests for a big amount of 256GB range SSDs....

Re: Problem Powering On

I suggest you to find a battery and give it a try. If problem doesn't appear on battery it can be AC adapter/Power Connector/Charger circuit failure. You can try third party batteries, not bad choice, but lifetime of these China batteries is about 3 years. Also you can find used genuine batteries wi...

taichi,
Bad capacitors in AC adapter may cause voltage drops at load, while at idle voltage can be good.
Do you have a working battery? Do you have any problems booting Thinkpad at battery?
What the problem to flash modded 2.27 BIOS with SLIC2.1 and no whitelist?

Re: AC-DC supply voltage limit

It can work with 19V adapter. But I highly recommend don't do that!
On my experience I had TP390E powered from 19V - no problems, but TP600 didn't survive - blown up charger detection circuit(battery charging gone, solved by resoldering burnt LM324 chip).

You can try ATI Catalyst 12.11 Modded from here. Look for ATI Catalyst 12.11 B11 HotFix 11.09 V6 BETA.
Works good with v5200, but no support for PowerPlay, so I downgraded to WinUpdate's 8.561

Re: Improving T60 cooling by cutting away plastic "lamellas/gills"

zoltan87 , But what the problem with T60 fan to damage the case? In my opinion its better replacing GPU thermal pad with 0.8...1.0mm copper shim and placing about 2mm thermal pad between SB and structure frame. Also "right" fan profile in IBMECW doing good job. RealBlackStuff , not good idea. T60 c...

Re: Practically unusable Google Maps on T60! Why?

Yes, developers are all the time dropping legacy GPU support in new browsers making users buy new hardware. There are best browsers supporing legacy GPUs in my opinion: -T42/T43/Z60 with R9600/X300/V3200 - Chrome 33(unfortunately Google dropped extensions support fot it); -T60/Z61/R60 with X1300/140...
