Re: Best HDMI Graphics card to stream video to TV from M58P-MJV2740 ?
I have put GTX 950 or GTX 1050 in a lot of machines this age to breathe new life into them. After adding these GPUs they can even handle some 1080p gaming. Like RBS says, a ROKU is a very good choice. I use an android TV box myself (S912 based). Not as smooth as Roku or OpenELEC but works well if yo...

Re: What operatings systems are y'all using on your vintage ThinkPads?
I am either running just XP or dual booting Debian and XP on my older thinkpads. I no longer have my 760EL which was the last one I ran an older OS (DOS/95/Warp) on. I liked the 760 for running Warp a lot. I have some hardware that is XP only hence XP being on most of my machines, and dual boot with...

Can a E-350 drive 1440p if not gaming?
Strictly for Linux use on a big screen, so the most graphical intensive thing will be a web browser. Just want to know if i'll be seriously regretting using one on a screen that big. and hopefully use the internal one as well.

Re: specialized playback and web browsing older C2D PC.
Personally I hate the ARM boxes. I mean why do I need it while I can just attach a keyboard or mouse to my octa-core Galaxy S5 and use it as ARM computer?? Also if you use OptiPlex or ThinkPad (no matter how old it is of course), you can feel the every bit of quality they have put inside. Even as o...

Expresscard to SCSI device? Need DB25 connection
Just curious what might be a good and cheap one, i have a scsi device which uses an older program to send program data over SCSI. Back in the day I did this with a pci card and still have it but would rather use a TP than set up an ancient tower. thank you!

Re: specialized playback and web browsing older C2D PC.
My friend occasionally dragged home from recycling bin some computers for me to play with but this is a possible good gem for friend's needs. C2D 3.16GHz 6MB (E8500), optiplex 760. These machines also have eSATA which is big plus. I was thinking of maxing out memory to 8GB (50 from ebay), low profi...

Re: ARM64 powered all-in-one Android TV boxes for Debian/Ubuntu use
Sorry about the picture. Just wanted to update these cheaper ones typically have abysmal wifi. Mine failed for other reasons (the heatsink fell off! it was held on by thermal paste and nothing else...) I've since returned it to amazon and bought a T95k Pro (any brand works, T95u and T95k as well) wi...

Favorite 4:3 LCD is damaged NEC MultiSync LCD1765
Hi all, well sadly during a move a box fell against my NEC MultiSync LCD1765 when I was not around. If you were located in the EU, I would definitely buy the R500 with the P9600 and 8GB ram, but unfortunately the shipping cost must be forbiding due to the specific model being built like a tank (and all that provided you'd be willing to ship to Europe and deal with whatever paperwork is required)....

Sold all my NON-SATA Ultrabay Slim drives. SATA drives are all I have now!
PS you can get a mini SATA to USB adapter from China for $2 and use one of these with your optical drive-less laptop or desktop. And they are genuine Lenovo so you know they are good.

Does the R500 have an upgraded CPU and motherboard? I'm just curious R500, P9600, 8GB RAM, 802.11ac ... $60 has an upgraded CPU The other two R500 with Celeron are the stock CPU's.
