Windows XP -- adding Tablet PC Edition parts into regular XP, possible?

Is it possible to add the Tablet / Pen portions of the Windows XP Tablet Edition to a regular (non-tablet) Windows XP install? The XP Tablet edition is a royal pain to re-install. I want to set up a Thinkpad X60t with it in a way that I can easily do so again in the future. It would be nice to have...

Re: A31p - a decade later (LONG)

A31p is still pretty darn useful even 15 years later! I just did a fresh install of the new Linux Debian Stretch distro AntiX 17 (on 128gb Plextor mSATA SSD) listened to a CD, watched a TV show from DVD, edited some text documents and pictures, and am doing some web stuff now... Still a pleasure to ...

Why only 6GB of RAM? Why not 8GB of RAM like other FrankenPads? Seems strange to boost the processor so much and not Max out the memory.

What kind of Temperatures does this beast run at?

Re: No Windows Update for Windows 95/98/98SE/ME/2000

There is/was some unofficial Roll-ups and Service Packs for both Win98se and Win2k that had all the official Microsoft stuff and then some (e.g., part of the extra Win2K stuff let you install a lot of software that normally would only run on WinXP).

Anyone looking to offload one that can help me out?

Re: Experimentation with A31

I just did a clean install on an A31p with WinXP-FLP SP3 on a Samsung HM160HC (great HDD!) -- so far it's working very well with 2GHz and 2GB RAM! I'm planning to compare it vs. Windows 2000 SP4, regular WinXP SP3 is too slow on A31p, IMO. Linux both AntiX-16 + MX-15 (Debian 8 ) and Linux Lite (Ubun...

follow-up, in case anyone else ever wants to do this: FWIW, I did find a LTM10C272 S which is working but it took swapping the wire connectors (the white plastic plug/prong thingees) from the original screen spliced onto the wires of the new screen to get it to fit. That said, I have another 620ct t...

hwattys, Thanks but I've already got 2 x 32mb chips, if I can't find some 64mb ones I might take you up on that. Anyone know if these 64mb chips RBS has will work with a 701c? I've been successfully using " Aleratec mSATA SSD to 1.8" SATA Drive Converter with Frame " in my x301 Thinkpads for a while now and they work great -- FWIW, got them from Amazon and eBay. Using up to 512gb SSD (but there is an expensive 1tb mSATA but it's a Samsung SSD). With 8gb of RAM an x301 is ...

Re: Toshiba's PC business strategy for the future and what it means for us

Toshiba has made some absolutely excellent laptops in the past -- in the 90s many of them were rivals to or better than the Thinkpads!

If the Retro-Thinkpad of futureyear isn't up to snuff, it might then be time to check out Toshiba again...

The 610ct (according to the similar exploded view document of it) has the 640x480 screen with part numbers of P000204600, VF0139P01, and LTM09C031A.

Re: WTB: 10.4" TFT Sharp Screen Display P000220320 VF0170P01 for Toshiba Portege 620ct (or alternative)

Weird. The other VF0170P01 number on the same screen matches the Toshiba Part number for the 620ct which is 800x600 (from the Toshiba exploded view document above). I've got two 620ct computers: 1 totally dead screen which I took apart to look at; the other partially cracked which I don't want to ri...

WTB: 10.4" TFT Sharp Screen Display P000220320 VF0170P01 for Toshiba Portege 620ct (or alternative)

Looking for a 10.4" Sharp Screen -- TFT 800x600 SVGA -- part numbers P000220320 and/or VF0170P01 (for a Toshiba Portege 620ct subnotebook, ca. 1995). I've been "distro hopping" trying many versions out over the last year or so on my Thinkpads: For Ubuntu I go with Linux Lite (which is based on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS) currently at 2.6 (2.8 update in Feb) and used XFCE 4.11 as the Desktop, simply the best of all the many Ubuntus I've tried. https://www.l...
