Re: Thinkpadders, do NOT Rejoice, WEEP and/or DESPAIR!

Lenovo itself calls it "T25" in some places... https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/jp/th/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-t-series-laptops/thinkpad-t25-type-20k7/parts/pd500006 Someday someone might update the T23 with modern innards and call it "T24". Things would get extremely confusing if the Thi...

Re: Thinkpadders, do NOT Rejoice, WEEP and/or DESPAIR!

First of all, can we stop calling this "T25"? It's not a continuation of the T20/21/22/23 series. Call it TP25, for "Thinkpad 25". Comparing a WXGA+ TN panel which was probably one of the worst panels in existence (definitely the worst I have seen) with a FHD IPS Touchscreen. Yeah, right. The X301 s...

Re: Thinkpadders, do NOT Rejoice, WEEP and/or DESPAIR!

Guys, there is no reason to be so upset over the price tag. As time goes by, it will be 10% off, then 20% off, and later even 30% off etc. All Thinkpad models go through this cycle. If the TP25 is sold out very fast, then the discounts may not happen, but almost everyone here seems to be convinced t...

Re: Thinkpadders Rejoice (*LARGE PICS*)

If you would offer me the choice between two ThinkPads , one with a 12" 3:2 screen (and thus either huge display bezels or a smaller keyboard) and one with a 14" 16:9 screen (which can have very display small side bezels and still a full-size keyboard), I would go with the 14" 16:9 every time. It d...

Re: Thinkpadders Rejoice (*LARGE PICS*)

There were two separate polls, but the results of the aspect-ratio question were never published, unlike the screen size. The aspect ratio results were published, but later taken down. We had a discussion of the results on this forum. Thats just your opinion. I for example have no use for a 12" sys...

Re: Thinkpadders Rejoice (*LARGE PICS*)

Why should that even be a question? There is no reason at all to not do a 14" model if thats what most people chose. What makes more sense: People chose a 14" 16:10 screen. If you can´t/won´t do that for whatever reason, do you do a 12" 3:2 screen or a 14" 16:9? If I recall correctly, there were tw...

Re: Thinkpadders Rejoice (*LARGE PICS*)

Would a 12" 3:2 be that bad? Not at all. In fact, I love the 12" 1920x1280 display on my HP detachable. I even started a whole thread about it: https://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=124379 12" was the least preferred display size in the polls. Why did Lenovo listen to that poll but not t...

Re: Thinkpadders Rejoice (*LARGE PICS*)

I think so. After all, he managed to convince first David and Lenovo to pursue this project and produce a new ThinkPad with the Classical 7 Row keyboard. I reread lead_org 's old posts. He talked mostly about getting a taller-than-16:9 panel, and mentioned specifically 13.3" 16:10 panels such as th...

On closer inspection, that picture is most likely "photoshopped" Not necessarily. Why they had created all these polls ( including screen aspect ratio) and then delivers just modified T470 casing with old 6-row keyboard? Exactly. Thus, I predict it will have a 16:10 screen. Assuming David Hill isn't lying and is truly excited about the Retro, I bet the keyboard and the colorful ...

Sounds like you care more about weight than size. I second ZaZ's recommendation to look into ultralight 14-inchers. 12-inchers with low-resolution, short screens are a pain.

Re: 2007-2010: How did they kill 4:3 and 16:10 panels so quickly?

That period also happened to be when the laptop industry was obsessed with making the cheapest possible laptops. The netbook was one of the ideas that they (Asus to be specific) came up with. The other trick was going from 16:10 to 16:9. A 15.4" 16:10 panel has a surface area of 106.59 square inches...

I really wish that another computer manufacturer would get the 3:2 display from the ChromeBook Pixel. It does matter because the choice of 3:2 devices is still extremely limited. Its basically narrowed down to some Convertibles and a few 13" Consumer Ultrabooks. Not what I am looking for. I don´t care if I am a trendsetter or not, I only buy a device that fits my needs and wants. Currently, there i...

Re: Have you joined the 3:2 club yet?

It's like saying 1280x800 is more usable than 1366x768. And indeed I have said exactly that more than once. I have used 1280x800 and 1366x768 numerous times, even now actually, and having those 32 extra rows of pixels (4.17% of 768) makes a difference. It's only an 80 line and 6.25% increase in ver...

Have you joined the 3:2 club yet?

The 3:2 aspect ratio is becoming popular for tablets, detachables and even laptops. Have you gotten one yet? I bought my Surface 3 (10.8" 1920x1280) in May, and today my 12-inch HP Pavilion X2 (12.0" 1920x1280) came in. 1920x1280 is a superb resolution, noticeably more useful than 1920x1200 and MUCH...

I can read small text fine, I just don't like it very much. Reading small text is painful to all of us. My impression (from my own experience and looking at the literature) is that 140dpi is optimal for someone with 20/20 vision viewing a screen at 22 inches. That means that 280dpi would be optimal for 20/10 vision with the screen at 22 inches, or for 20/20 vision viewing a tablet or phone at 11 inch...
