Re: Best aftermarket battery for T61p 15.4"

There are no OEM batteries available that have been made in the last 5 years. True. However, there are still NOS batteries out there, and Panasonics have been known to last easily for a decade, staying in "green" even after 7-800 cycles. You won't get that with an aftermarket battery, period. So I'...

Re: T61p vs T500 Changes

It looks like I'll be adding a T500 to my collection after all. One became available locally, and it has the T9600 processor. The seller works for IBM and is only asking $40, needs OS installed. Original owner, at that price it seems like a bargain to me. I'm picking it up tomorrow at 11am. "Lenovo ...

Re: My new T61P

Update: This laptop came with 3GB RAM (1 x 2GB and 1 x 1GB). Out of curiosity, today I removed the 1GB and installed a 4GB DDR2 PC2-6400 module to complement the remaining 2GB PC2-6400 chip for a total of 6GB. I also installed an SSD with Windows 7 64-bit. I have to say I am completely stunned by ho...

Re: T61p vs T500 Changes

Thanks everyone. I think I was interested because I didn't realize at first that that T500 is actually just the 15" version of the T400. Lenovo's numbering scheme to reflect the screen size is odd to say the least. The T5x is for the 15" while the T4x is for the 14". However, someone who doesn't kno...

Re: T61p vs T500 Changes

Some T500 have the same keyboard as the T61p with the solid backplate. Others, indeed, have the new lightweight perforated version. Later models compensate for it with a modified support structure. Aside from marginally faster CPU and RAM, and the fact that DDR3 is cheaper to max out at 8GB, T500 d...

T61p vs T500 Changes

Hi everyone, I have the opportunity to pick up a local T500 tomorrow morning. I told the seller I would call him around 8am. As I already own a T61p, I notice that the T500 seems physically similar. However, I also read on NotebookReview that the new keyboard in the T500 has a weaker backplate. The ...

It's not "less than 0.01%". It's either "less than 1%" or "less than 0.01", but not both. :)

In statistics we used 0.01, that's the calculator output. I suppose if you multiply by 100, you get 1%.

Re: ThinkPad T23 Arrival

I bought a brand new Sanyo-manufactured battery on eBay for $27 ( link ). I received it a couple days after buying the machine and after one cycle it holds about a 2:30 charge. That battery looks reasonable but otherwise could be rather dicey, based on seller's many negative feedbacks! Recent Feedb...

Re: 15" T60p: What is a good price?

In my opinion, any seller that asks for over $200 on such a machine is asking for too much. They may be possibly using the 'retro' trend to justify the high price tag, but that is not reasonable at all. IMO, depends. Seeing a nice-shaped unit below $100 is a straight-in. Any add-ons may just increa...

Re: How common is this crack in T2x systems *PICS*

Old thread but relevant info: This week I replaced the plastic hard drive cover on my T23 which developed a crack. Apparently this is a common issue as these machines are now almost 20 years of age and the plastic gets brittle over time. I am pleased that the replacement I ordered on eBay was a perf...

Have you verified the connection between the AC plug and the laptop is secure? These machines sometimes "wiggle" loose over time. You might have to open the machine to ensure the AC connector hasn't loosened up from the board or that the solder connections haven't broken. Hardware Maintenance Manual...

I have had a similar thing happen which I think was my Avast stopping the connection.

Your antivirus might be stopping this because you are using XP.
