I can vouch that the HP driver cd's are known to be buggy on many systems. I cant explain the technical reasons but I know that they tend to freeze during installation..

personally i cannot live without the 14.1" TFT SXGA+ (1400 x 1050). see if you can check out the resolution sizes up close and personal.

As a technician; i would recommend using the bazooka scanner to detect spyware. Once it detects the spyware it will refer you to a website with instructions on how to manually remove it from the registry, etc. There is spyware out there suchas 'surf sidekick III' that ms antispyware, adaware, etc. c...

Congrats! I too spent many long hours and decided to invest in a T43, which has proven to be a great investment! Enjoy it and dont get too caught up with some of the nitpickers around here. Nothing is perfect, but my Thinkpad does a great job.

Unless you are an running math and engineering programs there is no need for a T43p, IMHO. I am perfectly satisfied with my T43, it runs fast enough and is quiet.

my t43 has never been loud.
