Re: Thinkpad 600 resurrection

You'd get more bang out of pushing the RAM up to 288MB if you haven't already (a pair of PC133 CL2 128MB sticks plus the on-motherboard 32MB). A PC133 stick isn't gonna play with TP600 series nearly as well as a PC100 or PC66 part in the case of 600 and 600E. If you have 128MB PC66 memory in the sl...

Re: Those who own the 15" T4xp laptops, how useful are they in 2017?

I am late to the party, but here are my 2 cents: 1. Silence: I have experience with all ATI T60s (x1300, x1400,x1600) and T2500, T5600, T7400 CPUs. These machines are really loud in comparison to T42. I love silence so I am still using T42 (15' XGA, Radeon 7500, 2GB RAM) for programming (Eclipse) a...

Get a jellybean key finder software first to glean COA # for your Word. You already have windows COA # stickers on your notebooks for both T420 and T430 under battery compartment. Obtain windows 10 Pro and Word installation ISO. You can use windows COA # for 7 Pro, 8.x Pro to activate windows 10 Pro...

This is samsung OEM memory good for any notebooks also, You can also choose to get one made by Micron, Crucial, Hynix as well. Why not go matched set of two 8GB modules not just one to your 4GB so you can preserve the dual channel mode which is very helpful for *both* integrated GPU and CPU. 4GB and...

Re: New user of X200s: questions about hardware (cam + UMTS modem + wireless USB)

Take out Turbo Cache module every time. This only add more problems compared to helping with performance (not that any noticeable improvement) and 2GB is too small to help either. Reason for this was for Vista only and win 7 and later does not support this, in fact windows 10 will not install with t...

Two limitations and they were also early teething with them. One, they are 640x480, two they work best with 16 colors only. As a early designs the LCD is not as stellar as what we are now used to and image steady enough is as not good as much newer ones with VGA input LCDs and they are better ones o...

Go with ivy bridge or later processors. Please think this way: The SPD data on each memory modules (this is main reason to match a pair), determines the timing bins for 1066, 1333 and 1600. If you have set of matched OEM brand (2Rx8, 16 chips per module, please), that is either 1600 or 1333 that are used in older machines for C2D and 1st ...
