Re: Z60m resigns from being operational-- fuse blown?

x300 and x600 boards are same design, same heatsink. Even the driver for the GPU is same for both. Why sticking with lame x300?

I did look into Z60m awhile ago to acquire one but did not pan out.

Re: W500 fireGL issues?

I do admit that T500 my friend currently using is still holding their own with T9xxx 2.8GHz CPU and HD3650 in use on W 10 Pro but it is becoming slower on CPU bound tasks and they are not power user. Yet easier just to go for newer notebook one day in future. Even a haswell 15W celeron is doing bett...

all Tx00 and W500 automatic switchable feature does not work. Leave bios setting at integrated or discrete GPU and install both drivers (not switchable driver) but do this one at a time and change to another in bios setting then install other. How I know? Remember T520 is DDR3 only while T530 ivybridge can take either DDR3 or DDR3L up to 1333 if using 1333 or 1600 modules also Ivy bridge up to 1600. Haswell notebook processors are DDR3L only up to 1600. Any of these can take 1600 but will run at 1333 on sandy bridge. Also all of them can take 1333 as...

Try to let the bios utilty update the bios again, somehow force it? Typically one don't do the manual flash like you do with .Fl1. Doing the .Fl1 utlity manually and the flasher will do the Fl2 next, no need to do that. Many manual flashing with the .Fl1 method did not say about doing the .Fl2 next ...

Confirmed, will not work. 8GB is all that will work in x240. Even newest x250, x270 and x280 is still one slot. Intel Ark (referenced i5-4200u for info), 16GB max dependent on memory type. That it. Besides the dual channel that about it. I just found lenovo forums complaining about not able to do 16...

Good to see you are choosing Crucial memory since this is part of Micron Technology subsidiary means guaranteed to work first try, and this Haswell processor supports up to 32GB in two modules means you can do this in one 16GB Cruical module on your notebook. Only problem is you'll be stuck with sin...

I understood you have 2x 16MB and one 32MB in the computer? (I did find you on other forum VOGONS). I happen to know ancient stuff as I worked with countless socket 5 or 7 machines for long time back then. This CPU K6 233 IS socket 7 which Pentium 233MMX (much faster FPU) can fit as well. PS: This is quad core i7-2960XM at 55W and if your machine is equipped with 45W processor heatsink, you'll need to change out the heatsink also to handle this 55W processor. Pentium ( Not Pentium 1) computers typically use EDO unbuffered non-ECC does your module say ECC on it or chip count is odd like 9 or 18 chips, then this is ECC and not compatible. (has to be 8 or 16 chips per module which is non-ECC which is only way to work, also 3.3V for this pentium notebook). S...

Not needed if the specs is less than 500GB as they tend to be 512GB down to 500 or 480GB by default to make easier for user to not worry about making sure partition is smaller than the actual capacity.

Saying about not easy to find is true, easier to find low end quad W520 to get 4 memory slots then buy a CPU from ebay and upgrade that, factory options is just that, and bios can allow faster one installed instead. This way you also will know if need to upgrade the W520 heatsink to 55W type. If bio...
