Re: RAM frequency vs. power consumption for Carolina idiots

Quality of same silicon varies across same slice of dies. They are tested and programmed to best use most of same slice. For example fewer crop of cream processors for xeon and ones that does not make the cut for xeon gets i7 and plenty of i5 that does not make it to i7 status. So on. Now, new dimen...

Re: Why can't Windows 10 be installed on an X41 Tablet?

Just that a thing with performance is not too much different from C2D 3.33 vs 1st gen i core even T410 has bug that I could not have highest clock with 2 processors in use even with i7-640m so I didn't bother to fix the trackpad/trackpoint issue on T410 with win10 Pro.

Re: RAM frequency vs. power consumption for Carolina idiots

Even better. When you have run the DDR3 2133 or 1866 at 1600, will produce less heat and even more better when notebook (ivy bridge, Haswell and later processors) using DDR3L which is less heat even more running at 1600 using 1866/2133 DDR3L at 1.35V vs 1.5V. Combine that both, you have double bingo...

Re: Why can't Windows 10 be installed on an X41 Tablet?

Main reason is PAE. All fsb 533 MHz P-M only. x41 is 400MHz means no PAE (currently on soldered down P-M only, except socketed CPU many of them are unfortunately 400fsb except for other notebooks based on 915 chipset support 533 fsb processors like T43/R52 and other brands. I will not risk doing 10 ...

You are doing great. Try to get T9900. The T500 i worked on currently running win 10 pro with T9600 2.8GHz, 8GB and older 2 platter 500GB 7200rpm HD is showing slowness. Re: T500 shows no signs of life

Does not matter. Even T9900 3.06GHz is same watts as T9600. Kryonaut heatsink compound is excellent choice. I just redid this on an T9700 2.8GHz 35W T500 after cleaning heatsink by pulling out fan and cleaned up of any leftover dust and reassembled with kryonaut, CPU and GPU are about 45-50C and 50C...

Re: Can a damaged CPU cause the 1-3-3-1 beep error?

Starting with 1st gen i core processors these are direct bus to memory, try another processor to make sure. Also processors also are direct linked to PCIe bus separately. Chipset only serves to serve few more PCIe bus and i/o stuff.

Re: Thinkcentre M58p MAX CPU and RAM support

RealBlackStuff, I don't think you should have no trouble with Q9650 as well in your thinkcentre M58 as well after reviewing pdf.

See if you can swap out PSU for 400-500W as well since this takes standard ATX PSU in this tower case.

Re: Thinkcentre M58p MAX CPU and RAM support

The T-junction is only a recommendation. Since this is an desktop, they were usually designed to handle 95W and more by overrate of 20% by engineering of the specific heatsink if the documentation says can support Q9650, then will be fine. The key is based on documentation of specific model. For exa...

Make sure processor is 3GHz capable and test install using spare SATA hard drive and take a drive and see how hardware drivers works. I could not get touchpad and trackpoint to work on "next generation aka 1st gen i-core processor" on T410 with windows 10.

Re: Thinkcentre M58p MAX CPU and RAM support

A top dog CPU for Thinkcentre M58p would be either a Q9650 or a Xeon X3363 if you wanna do socket mod (X5000/E5000 series won't work because of the limitation of Q45 chipset. X3363 is still a lot cheaper than Q9650, and runs at a lower TDP. Of course, why recommend X3363 just because Q9650 runs at ...

If this photo is a representative, it does have micron chips in 16 chips total (2Rx8), this will work no problem, make sure to insist on what you will get before buying.

Still a not correct one. Needs 16 chips per *module* for older computers C2D/C2Q, 1st gen i core and 2nd gen i core and up 3rd gen to Ivy Bridge. What you need to find is this: On ebay: 1.5V DDR3 2Rx8, Hynix, Elpida, Micron/Crucial, FYI by then, any third party makers and Corsair, Mushkin are all ou...

Re: SL510 Fails Memtest86 with 8gb

You have this problem right there. 1.35V DDR3L and more likely 8 chips per module, not compatible. This C2D notebook is much older and requires 1.5V 2Rx8 (16 chips per module). I have one of T410 working great with pair of 4GB 2Rx8 1.5V using Elpida PC3-12800 running as PC3-8300 (DDR3-1066). Cheers,...

Also keep in mind when 2 cores in use, the clock boost is higher, and 4 cores come in play, boost comes down again. The max clock boost is 1 core. And yes, try to invest in high clocked CPU quad as it also have larger cache as well, keep within 45W envelope. Core i7-2860QM is good blend of 2.5GHz, m...

I doubt that for an 16bit 286, I think this HD is set as AT mode (16bit mode) This SH260 chipset by cirrus logic is high failure rate and selectable between 8 or 16bit mode, majority of Conner with SH260 chipset are AT mode. Any PATA 2.5" HD will do if carefully insulate the circuit board and set bios to 60MB using a 10GB PATA HD. Otherwise, look for 2.5" HD like this with old mounting pattern. 1GB or less still work as 60MB mode thanks to PATA autotranslation sectors. I have done this before. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/TE...
