m58p is ddr3 4 slots. DDR3 is no longer made for few years now even crucial no longer stock any even DDR3 ECC. I had to buy some from ebay from a good known sellers for any DDR3. DDR2 is still steady sticking around $50-70/4GB for DDR2 4GB modules, still can be had for pair of 4GB DDR2 800 on OEM br...

Re: X61T SXGA+ IPS Panel into 14" T60?

I have experienced using a 12.5" for a friend's and have number of 11.6 and 13.3", I consider this reasonable enough for portability and weight bit better. I do have 3 14.1" notebooks (thinkpad usually) and find it too limiting and bit heavy for only about a inch larger (what a hoot) where 15.4/15.6...

60C is kinda toasty. I would prefer to swap original fan for T500 fan which is direct drop in if your is 15.4" LCD, do not buy from chinese replacements they are same as t61's, T500 fan has more blades than T61''s. Take the pad off the GPU's spot heatsink and shim with copper just right thickness us...

Turn off IDE mode. The SATA mode as automatic, tried that to change manually to see what says. You do need AHCI mode. Remember to save configuration as default. I ran into this once with thinkcentre computer while back.

One more thing, make sure heatsink is not choked with dust on the heatsin fins in the inside, cannot see it easily, disassemble and take heatsink out. Can you hear the floppy head seeking during POST nicely at boot up? If not, that's your problem, old grease in these tend to thicken up so much that is now practically glue, that will not allow the lead screw stepper unable to turn the lead screw. See if can clean old grease off the head screw that ...

The T500 fan minus the heatsink with high count blades is direct swap to T61/R61 heatsink's original fan, no mods needed. That fan design was created to cool 35W CPU in addition to HD3650 GPU which can peak more than 20W. I have seen more than 30W total pumped out even more on monitoring battery uti...

Re: Ultra slim 8200 and slow windows 10. Revised

To fix the too aggressive multiplier ratios like i5-2500S that runs at 2.6-2.8GHz for 4 cores, use msconfig to set core number limit to 2 or 3 as desired based on CPU World info. I set that one to 2 and now cores are running way faster. This HP ultra slim 8200 BIOS does not let go of multiplier eas...

This is i5-3210m 2.5GHz ivy bridge, yours T410 is Westmere type and equally bit slower than that so it is a kind of wash. This would require T430 or T530 to take this processor. Better off purchase ivy bridge equipped notebook with i5-3360m or better. Also this is where windows 10 works properly on ...

SOLVED. Max turbo boost for each n+1, 2..n cores is detailed in "CPU World" website.
