How about Windows 2000? I have a T42 with XP on it, but I never really used XP before, so it holds no nostalgia for me, and maybe Windows 2000 would make me use it more.

I use Debian on all my machines. Mostly, I use 2 SSD's, one with Intel and AMD graphics drivers and one with Nvidia drivers, and then I just swap them around to whichever ThinkPad I feel like using.

For desktop environment, I use XFCE.
