Re: x220/x230 FHD/ WQHD 2K mSATA/USB3.0

I already found the problem. It was simply a coincidence with other official Lenovo update: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/on-screen-display-not-working-after-quot-critical-updates-quot/td-p/4188711 I apparently noticed it a bit later, so I thought it may be connected wi...

Re: x220/x230 FHD/ WQHD 2K mSATA/USB3.0

Here are files for patching the bios . I used those instructions with the raspberry pi and flashrom to extract and flash the bios. Is this patcher compatible with the latest x230 BIOS version of 2.73 (26 Jun 2018)? The keyboard itself works fine, but many Fn- shortcuts stopped working, at least on ...

Re: Installing classic keyboard into X230 with EC firmware mod

Hello. Is there any chance that the mod will restore the virtual numberpad functionality of the classic keyboard as well? Thanks. Surprisingly, yes! Even though the x230 had no support for the virtual numberpad, they left all that functionality in the firmware. So, when we added back the keysym for...

Re: Any X220 or X230 user with Panasonic battery?

I have a Sanyo and and an LGC for my X220. I am not 100% certain there exist Panasonic FRUs for this generation. However, the T430s battery I have is Panasonic-branded, so the brand itself definitely still exists in batteries. I haven't found any such a list for a X220, but I had for a X230 instead...

Re: Any X220 or X230 user with Panasonic battery?

Panasonic owns Sanyo, so the cell brand may match either name. Thank you for that information. However, Panasonic batteries always used to show "Panasonic" instead of "Sanyo" in Power Manager. Sanyo even has different FRU as well (45N1027 for Sanyo, 45N1175 for Panasonic). Do you think, that it mig...

Any X220 or X230 user with Panasonic battery?

Hi, I'd like to ask, whether is here still anyone using X220/X230 with a Panasonic cells in his battery? I bought a new battery, FRU 45N1175, which had to be Panasonic, and it's just a f***ing Sanyo instead. I would like to ask, if any owner could take a picture of the battery label? My battery has ...

Re: IBM ThinkPad 340CSE - dead?

Progress: I cleaned the motherboard with isopropylalcohol and toothbrush, which removed the most of stiffened liquid. However, it wasn't enough. My friend recommended me to wash it with water and then clean with isopropyl once again (to remove dirt, grease etc). I am currently waiting till the whole...

Re: IBM ThinkPad 340CSE - dead?

I luckily have some spare isopropyl here, they actually didn't want to sell it to me in local pharmacy, they thought I am drug addicted :D Gonna check it out, thanks!

IBM ThinkPad 340CSE - dead?

Hi there, I would like to ask more experienced people: I bought a ThinkPad 340CSE in a very decent condition (no scratches etc.), no parts missing, everything is just as it had been laid on a shelve a decade ago. However, previous owner probably had no idea and let the battery plugged in. In a resul...

Re: X201 Replaced HDD with SSD, sounds like HDD still presen

Hello! Haven't you changed anything with the audio drivers? Few months ago I've been expedimenting with unofficial Dolby Audio on my X220. Let's miss the fact that it screwed my audio settings and sounded like a cover of dust-bin, it caused very similiar problems! In a silent room, I expedienced the...

Re: Buying and x220

But I think they all have it (ghosting), without exceptions. All X220s and X230s come with IPS screen manufactured by LG, so there may be some differences, but they all are propably based on the same "platform". Those IPS issues, extremely awful TN screens and badly designed palmrest & LCD bezel (t...

Re: Buying and x220

Had two X220, one ordered the first day, and I never saw any ghosting. Although the link attached below shows MacBook screen, I sometimes face the same issue. As I said, you have to stay some time on one page (as I said, it is usually visible after some Facebook chatting). TN machines are absolutel...

Re: Buying and x220

Anyway! If you are looking for a X220 unit, count with fact, that IPS on X220 suffers from "ghosting" efect. This is something like "burned screen" on plasma TVs or Amoled displays (you can often spot it in phone shops), altough in this case we talk about temporary effect, it usually disapears withi...

emeraldgirl08: There is actually no problem with keyboard itself. It works fine, but doesn't fit / match well to the basis. dr-st: It almost sounds like the keyboard is not seated properly. X220 - keyboard does not fit well

Hello ThinkPaders, I still face unpleasant problem. When I type on my X220, I feel there is actually some space between motherboard bezel and the keyboard itself. Second side of story are plonks, who come from inside. It is just horrible. I often feel like I owned cheap budget Acer... I spotted two ...

X230 screen bezel on X220?

Hello, I have TP X220, and I have unfortunately few times seen, that screen bezel bends out under direct sun light. Furthermore left and right upper corners are cracked and the bezel itself is slightly ratty under the display (it has some contact with keyboard when laptop is closed), so I decided to...

X220 - non ULV fan into ULV model

Hello, does anybody know, if it is possible to install non ULV fan (two exhaust vents) into ULV model? I am quite interested in this idea. I would say, that bigger fan would be more than strong enough to keep my X220 passive cooled in common internet surfing, watching non FHD movies and so on (or wi...
