Has the w540/w541 bios throttling bug been fixed ?

the w540 and w541 both had throttling bug due to bios, has any of them been fixed? it is where the cpu gets stuck on 800mhz for ~2 minutes due to temperature, and it sticks there until the temps are down to 60c, unlike normal intel processors that throttle allot more reasonably by default. https://w...

TPFanControl software can completely turn off bluetooth, right click on the icon in status bar, this is on windows 8.1 though.

not sure if it persists after restart or not.

you need VTx only to run 64 bit guest OS,
VTd has no practical uses for your laptop except for allowing access to PCIe devices.

Re: T430: Any disadvantage to using mSATA SSD besides slightly slower OS launch?

I do not think OS boot will slow down over Sata2 speeds, i think the only thing that will slow down is large data access, like backup/restore or extracting/compressing huge zip files with zero compression ..etc. I think the downside only is that msata SSDs are more prone to overheat when having the ...

the T430 can be upgraded to a quadcore processor, many old threads discussing this. The CPU is more efficient clock-per-clock, core-per-core. However, for heavy CPU-intensive applications that can use >2 cores, the W510 will still be faster. not true, even the average i5 dual core ivybridge will bea...
