Re: Cpu upgrade what cpu to search

I have upgraded both my t410 from 520m to 640m (which i guess is the max it can take). They run cooler and feels alot snappier.

Its an igpu (intel hd/ironlake) cpu.

K1000m unlock shaders

Hi, been reading up on the internals of my better used (i.e mint) w530 that i received one week ago, both as for (if possible?) unlocking the GPU (k1000m is apparently a locked down 640gt that only uses 192 shaders vs the 640s 384 shader units). Do anyone know if there exists any soft-mods of any ki...

Re: Apply cooling paste and drop 10 degrees celsius

TankPad, Yes, you are most probably right about cleaning out the fins and the internals as well. That might well be the reason why her i7 ran much cooler than mine. I was considering different manufacturing (plant) at some point, but "guck" in the fan is more plausible i guess. cynicx, thanks for th...

Replaceable fuse inside the 170w power supply?

Hi, got my W530 home today. It was in mint condition and came with the 2.7ghz quad core cpu, 8gb of 1600mhz ram, 500gb drive and..... not working power supply (which was cosmetically great also). I have contacted the seller already regarding this, but i'm still curious: do the power bricks contain a...

Apply cooling paste and drop 10 degrees celsius

Both me and the missus have a T410. I swapped my 520m for a 640m last year and did (probably) a bad job applying cooling paste on mine. Using Noctua #5 (+ 2 step remover and purifyer) my machine kept the temp. At ~64 celsius when idling and 86 and above when pushed (sometimes 90ies). Today, i replac...

Confessions of a thinkpad "fan boy" ( ;-)) + w530 question

So i finally did it. I have been an owner of several thinkpads (i.e i still own all of them) and they are all "pimped" out: T61 (middleton) with added 1440x1050, 2.5 ghz c2d, 7260 AC wifi, 8GB, dual SSD (win7x64 and OSX Sierra), X61 (middleton), 2.2ghz c2d, 240gb SSD, 8GB and T410 with 1440x900, 8GB...

Re: X6x SXGA+ Mod - is it reliable if done correctly?

LOL, well, i thought that using those tools gently would do the trick. So the big question really: How did you guys do it (well, not me and axur-delmeria obviously....)? What tools did you use? Another thing i noticed (described elsewhere as well) is that that panel leaves this ugly gap at the top o...

For the plastic ears - a small wire cutter. For the metal parts, a very small metal saw

and yes, i was very careful :)

Re: X6x SXGA+ Mod - is it reliable if done correctly?

I did the mod yesterday (using a boe hydis .....100 panel). The result? Utter disaster :( I had prepared for months, having the converter cable that i bought long ago (from i.thinkpad). Long story short. I believe that i did manage to rupture the panel somehow when i cut off the "ears", even tough i...

OSX Sierra 10.12.3 on T61 (X3100) working

Hi, Just wanted to share my "trials and tribulations" around getting OSX Sierra working on this old (but yet great) machine. I own three Thinkpads (well, four if i include an Y50-70 machine as well, but that one is not a classic really): Lenovo T61 (T9300/8gb ram), Lenovo X61 (T7500/8gb ram) and a T...

optical drive and/or hdd not recognized in Ultrabay

Hi, I'm having severe problems getting my DVD and hdd to work in my T61 ultrabay. I currently run Windows 7*64 on this machine (T61 - 14.1 w. 4Gb ram and upgraded cpu to a T9300). when upgrading it to windows 7, the DVD stopped working. When i power the machine up, i notice that the led on the dvd (...
