ThinkPad T520 hdd led always on
Hi, I recently bought a T520 with quad core i7 and nvidia graphic. When I turn it on the hdd led blink normally but after few minutes it stays on (the light is on and it doesn't blink) while the disk usage is low or 0% (I have a intel msata 310 ssd and the thinkpad mechanic disk inside). I noticed t...

Hi,
at the end I use the RMA on amazon.
I tried by changing drivers but nothing to do. I think that the problem was on memories or something with what hans says.
however.. Thanks.

Thinkpad X220 2101 error with Intel 310
Hi EveryBody,
I Bought an Intel mSata 310 80 GB, I put it in my X220 but it gives error 2101, also it figures in windows disk manager but as unknown device. (Also tested in a X230, same error). Bios Updated at the latest version.
What can I do? Thanks in advance, best regards.

Re: ThinkPad T40 stopped working, Freezes
Hi, after many days I am here.
I Think The T40 is Dead, nothing to do. Planning to buy the T42P MOBO with FireGl T2, I want to be sure it is compatible with the XGA screen of the TP T40, do you confirm?
Thanks all for your replies, waiting your answers.
Best Regards.

Thank you all for answering. I'm attempting to make it works. I tried as you said, the chip next to CPU heats up and the one under the Wireless Card does not. I have been using this T40 with 2 stick 2x1 GB PC3200 DDR-400 and it worked, If use use them now it surely freeze... I put in his original 5...

Re: ThinkPad T40 stopped working, Freezes
Yeah, netburst bus chips get pretty hot (and usually cooled with heatsinks that are too small). What a shame. I know that fact. The netburst southbridge get hot to the touch, but it is not hot enough to burn your hands. And that's even true to my OptiPlex GX520! What I was trying to say was my moth...

Re: ThinkPad T40 stopped working, Freezes
that seems like a southbridge failure or short circuit to me. I think you should try to boot it off the battery without palmrest and minipci card and try the temperature of the southbridge. My A31p motherboard has the same issue and you can feel like the southbridge is reaching to boiling hot befor...

Re: Unsolvable Login Loop WIN 10
I used set a different image and my problem got solved (I actually did this trick just a week ago!). I think my problem was less severe: It only gets into the boot loop if you use fast startup and if you restart it works just fine. I disabled fast startup, that gave boot problems, but nothing to do...

To the OP, it's your need so get the best OS that suits your own personal tastes. No one knows you better than you so why even ask? When I came across the same question for my T42, I loaded XP, Vista, 7 and 8.1. In the end I went with Linux Mint XFCE. Why? Because I liked it best. Along the way I l...

The T43 won't power light doesn't come on with or without battery. Otherwise it is in great condition. Has 2GB RAM. Needs new BIOS battery. No HD or HD door/carrier. Older battery that had some charge. You pay USPS Priority mail cost. Hopefully $13.45. Just don't want to throw away. Model: 2668-46U...

Re: ThinkPad T40 Fan No Voltage (F4 chip works)
I'd say you have a blown fuse. Last try (without AC or battery): one end of fuse --> wire --> ground from --> C/D/AA/AAA battery --> from plus --> wire --> lightbulb --> wire --> other end of fuse. If the bulb burns, then the fuse is OK. I'm not an expert, I didn't understand this procedure... I wi...

Re: ThinkPad T40 Fan No Voltage (F4 chip works)
The F4 fuse should not measure anything! You probably left the charger and/or the battery in. :BAAAD!: Set your multitester to Continuity, it should beep when you put the two probes together. Without AC/battery connected, touch both sides of F4, it should beep if OK. So I have to test it with no AC...

ThinkPad T40 Fan No Voltage (F4 chip works)
Hi,
I recently bought a T40. The PC Power On but the Fan doesn't start. I read it could be the F4 chip but testing it with a tester gives me 5 volt. I tried to test the fan connector and it seems the problem, no voltage.
What can I do to fix it?
Thanks in advance, waiting your answers.
