I was always more into the games on the computer. I did have an Xbox but never really found myself to be as fond of playing the Xbox compared to the MMORPG online games on the computer. I always enjoyed the human interaction part of these games, but overall did just do not have the time nor energy t...

Re: New X1 Carbon unboxing
By any chance do you travel a lot for work? In some companies, I noticed they will use the X1 for the travelers within the organization and give more of the Thinkpad T series to those who are in the office all the time. If you do travel, any comments on the overall effectiveness of the lightweight a...

GomJabbar You should have suspected a bad keyboard first. Unless there's traces of coffee in the X220's system board, there's a good that it still works. Hindsight is always 20-20 they say. A teaspoonful (more or less) of coffee was spilled on the lower right area of the keyboard, around the arrow ...

What's a good distro for T60/T61/Frankenpad-type (or core 2 duo era period) machines? Basically one that works 100% out of the box and is lightweight yet functional? Any distro usually works with the age of machine, the decision is which WM/DE interface you want to use. Some distros like debian or ...

Currently running Arch on my T440p with dwm. Took some time configuring - but pretty much customized it to my liking. Really happy with it so far and no major issues.

Re: T410 vs T420 vs T430
But if budget is important, then the T420 (with 1600x900) will do you fine for yet a few years. I agree with this - I had a T420 before driving it into the ground for some time in addition to my T430. As much as I don't *mind* the T430 chiclet keyboard - it definitely is not the same as the T420 ke...

I was using my X220 on a Sunday morning almost 2 weeks ago and spilled a little coffee on the keyboard. It worked fine for several hours, then I put it in Hibernation while I left the house for a few hours. When I came back, the power on button didn't do anything. No lights or indicators showing wh...

I don't like the new look. At all. Way too bright and shiny, and not in a good way IMO. Having everything that was on the left now on the right is also not something I'm thrilled about. Makes reading and posting more difficult IMO. The functionality of the forum itself - now that the bugs have been...

Re: NEW LOOK TO THE OLD FORUM..
Overall I am seeing much fast loading times and the theme is appealing to the eyes.
I think it will just take time however to get use to the author's info on the right instead of the left. I see this as being the biggest challenge for me.
Overall though I think it is an improvement!

Re: Advice needed on very first laptop to own
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience, TankPad and teamde78! I will spend USD600 max to get my first Thinkpad. My preference on screen size is >=14". Mobility is to be considered because I will carry laptop in backpack while travelling by motorcycle. Is W520 too much to carry around? How ...
