Re: Previous thermal management issues with w500?

Something you can do to keep the GPU safe in the meantime is go to BIOS, settings, display and set the GPU to "Integrated" so it uses the Intel GMA 4500 exclusively. I encountered a dysfunctional heatsink on an iGPU only T500 before and modded a dGPU heatsink to fit and replace it. Sounds like you'v...

Re: Previous thermal management issues with w500?

TPFC was released in T43 era when contemporary ThinkPads had noisy fans and the goal of the program is to solve that by turning the fan off. By default TPFC turns the fan off with temps below 60C* or so, which is why you're seeing higher idle temps. TPFC does run the fan faster at speeds 7 and 64, f...

You need to repaste the CPU and GPU. Idle temps for both should be at or below 50C, max load not exceeding 85C.

There are two generations of Z-series: Z60m 15.4" and Z60t 14.1". Pentium M single core laptops taking 2GB max. You want performance so you don't want these. At least they use SATA. Performance-wise they are comparable to T43 and R52. I have a Z60m with ATI X600 and 1680x1050 is the maximum resoluti...

The WQHD mod I got from e-qstore works great. I'm running it with the B140QAN01.1 out of my T430s for two reasons: First, the new WQHD I ordered from China is an incompatible LCD. Second I killed my T430s' Intel HD4000. How do I know the HD4000 is dead and not the NVS 5200m? ThinkPad G50 uses the 945GM chipset which is limited to maximum 4GB, about 1GB is used by the motherboard, leaving 3GB usable. Same limitations as the T60, R60, X60, Z61.

Re: Does Anybody Enjoy the WUXGA?

15.4" screens are generally very nice, even for TN panels. TN gets a bad rep because it is cheaper and quality is significantly reduced in the 14" segment which is more popular, causing more suffering. The best WUXGA screens for the T60 and T61 are the Sharp LQ154M1LW2A or LQ154M1LW02 used in older ...

Press Escape to see what it's doing. It might be taking a hell of a long time to test the RAM.

Pressing spacebar should skip the process.

I spread it to remove as much excess as possible. Less paste is more efficient heat transfer. I want the minimum paste necessary just to connect the two surfaces.

Re: Thinkpad T530 - Fan Comes On As Soon AS Compter Turns On

Recommend installing a temp monitoring software. For Windows HWMonitor is a good comprehensive one. TPFanControl also reports CPU temp on the T530.

Idling should be around or under 50C. 70C to 80C is hot but normal under sustained load.

It's massive, but you wouldn't be able to use it in a 14" laptop running Windows without massive scaling. Maybe be a worthwhile upgrade for folks who are super-sensitive to pixelization, but for the rest - I'm not so sure. Indeed. I have the javi-jie kit for my T430s and I use it with no scaling, b...

If I hadn't already built my T430s with the javi-jie wqhd kit (that I enjoy very much) I'd order this for my old T430 in a heartbeat. Now that the screen options are equal, the only practical advantage a T430s has over T430 is the slimness. Re: Always On USB Connector

It's not a USB connector, it's the newer (new being from 2014) rectangular power port used in **40 generation Lenovo ThinkPads. You would need a rectangle to barrel adapter to use this with your T530. It does not plug into the yellow USB port. The laptop cannot get charged through the yellow USB port.

Ultrabay is the bay, the HDD caddies and various CD/DVD/Bluray drives are Ultrabay Devices. In older times Ultrabay Devices included batteries, a Serial+Parallel port adapter, or a slide-out numpad, however the last Ultrabay doesn't support these.
