There was also the X100e and newer series available with AMD processors, which were pretty slow until they got Core i3 processors.

Re: Wireless USB and Turbo Memory?

Turbo Memory I find causes a few second delay in POSTing that negates any boot time improvement. Just keeping your system lean will give you better performance than the Turbo Mem hopes to achieve. Bloated system + Turbo Mem is slower than a lean system, and this only applies to HDDs. An SSD will mak...

Re: New ThinkPad series : A series (A285 and A485)

They should not even be a new series. There are historically E530 - E535, E540 - E545, E550 - E555. They are just T and X series clones and should be named as such: T485 and X285.

Sorry for unrelated, can you tell me what IPS LED screen you have for your second X200? Second? Only my first is IPS LED. The second one on the P8700 board is regular CCFL. My younger brother only needed a computer, not a fancy screen. I said second because you wrote it second in your last two sent...

Re: Replacings T530's screen

You are right the N156HGE-L11 was used in Dell laptops. It has very high viewing angles and is VERY bright, 300 nits, very good for an LED screen. The colors are a bit oversaturated, it has very strong greens/yellows, no red/blue tint that I notice. When I installed mine it only had screw holes on t...

Re: Replacings T530's screen

First off: Make sure all power, AC adapters, and batteries (external, internal) are REMOVED from your Thinkpad before touching any LCD component including the LCD cable. Manipulating with power attached is 90% guaranteed to blow the LED backlight fuse! So disassemble with your AC adapter and battery...

Re: Way to get a T420 HDD clone to run in a T430?

Try uninstalling a bunch of drivers first then move the drive over.

Also see if you can run Sysprep and move the drive before the reinstalling drivers stage.

The T420 drive must be a 7mm to fit in the T430 bay.

You would need W520 motherboard, W520 heatsink, W520 heatsink bracket, and 135W or 170W AC adapter.

Re: W500 WUXGA vs other 16:10 15" displays?

There is a Samsung RGB LED with proprietary connector and pinout used in Dell laptops that one intrepid Thinkpad modder was able to hook up to a T500. Your best bet is LED modding your WUXGA display by replacing the CCFL tubes with LED strips. How to accomplish this I actually have no idea. Other fo...

Re: 9 cell battery 47++ : difference between sony and sanyo

I did buy a NOS Panasonic X201 batt for my X201 that ended up showing in Power Manager as a Sanyo, but from reading this thread I see how that makes sense. I haven't timed running down the battery myself but the estimator fluctuates between 3 and 6 hours with the charge above 60%, the screen reasona...

Re: R61 Video issues - is this the NvidiaBug failure?

Such graphical errors are symptomatic of GPU malfunction. If you have an Nvidia GPU, then yeah that's what gone bad. May or may not be the typical failure, those tend to just die then and there and not boot.

2M cache, 1.06 ghz, 533 fsb. That's slower than a Pentium M. Battery life especially with an LED screen should be amazing.

I have put DDR3L in Sandy Bridge Thinkpads with no problems, I believe it just behaves the same as 1.5v and only operates at 1.35v in an Ivy or newer.

For what reason can Middleton's BIOS not be flashed from 64 bit Windows? I have a 64 bit version of Winphlash that I've used to flash modded BIOSes on many T500.

Last of their kind: The 4:3 T61 and the 16:10 T500

Among the last of the 16:10 era Thinkpads was the T500. Of the myriad of 15.4” LVDS panels available, I modded and installed an LP154WU1-TLC1 from a Dell Alienware Area 51 m15x boasting 210 nits and 500:1 contrast for the best viewing experience possible with a simple panel swap and some grinding. I...

Depends on what you're doing. If browsing, Firefox 32 bit is very slow nowadays. You can play some retro games though if you have ATI GPU.

I don't play games anymore and I'd like to liquidate my egpu project. It works to accelerate the internal display on Optimus supporting Thinkpads. Adapter goes through the expresscard slot. I've ran it with T500 (no Optimus), T410s, T420, T430, and T520 all running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit and it makes ...

Re: What's a good temperature range for T61P?

Considering the 14.1" 4:3 and the 15.4" T61 use the same heatsink they should get the same performance, I'd think? Heatsink assemblies can develop defects that decrease their performance. There may also be some models of heatsink that are better or worse than others for the same model, eg. 2 pipes v...
