Re: Have I been scammed? T440p

Your getting a bit paranoid, the AC adapter can change if the original one gets lost/stolen etc. Also it can change depending such as if it was ordered CTO. The specs check out as legit so I wouldn't worry. Just run Device Manager/System Information when you receive the machine to check it all out a...

Re: Linux Mint 19 / Thinkpad Carbon 3rd Gen - battery test?

Don't know about any such tests, but I have some questions. With laptops booting up so quick nowadays, why waste valuable battery charge using stand-by? Are those few seconds that you might save so important? For me, battery life is so good in standby now-a-days, there is no need to fully shut it d...

Re: Would you recommend this battery for T400?

Both are knockoffs and really should be avoided if possible. The cells are surely going to be complete garbage, and especially given its a power hungry T400, your at the draw of a lottery to see if you get even a half-usable battery. Get yourself an OEM one and save yourself the hassle.

Re: mysterious battery on 755, 770, etc

Thanks. The pic was for 755c but I also seem to recall a similar battery in 770 as well. As you know, 770 already has regular CMOS battery right next to the ram slot. Does that mean 770 has a redundant CMOS battery system? After so many years, I can't imagine the NiCD battery still functioning at t...

Re: Do W540s with Intel HD graphics only/ no Quadro chips exist?

To elaborate on the specs: 4700MQ, 16GB ram, 480gb ssd, 1080p (TN I think). For £305 (380$). Not a massive bargain (I think there may have been a bit of a premium for getting windows 10 and an SSD already installed) and I may have been a bit too hasty and impulsive with my bids in the auction, but ...

What wi-fi card do you want to upgrade to? Why would you need a media drive for such an upgrade ? These drives are 10-15 years old and most of them have either failed by now or are about to. Try locating a media drive for T60/61 which will fit your machine just fine if you *really* need that functi...

Re: T61 MXM GPU in Ultrabay mod

Oh the power part isn't an issue. It's the runtime. You might be lucky to get 3-4 hrs out of a normal T60p on a 9 cell, add a giant MXM card and you MIGHT scramble to find 2 hours idling. It's basically would be a smaller W700 and that got only 2 hours maximum. RBS's "it will be sucked dry in minut...

Does 770X, with P2-300Mhz, play DVD without the optional MPEG board? I found an old PowerDVD software and it lists the minimum spec as P2-350Mhz with no mention of Videocard specs. 350Mhz isn't too far from 300Mhz... Anybody tried it? It will likely be a slideshow but you can always try. I played a...

1) NOS IPS panels can be found online easily. I believe there are also really nice TN panels from Sharp(Dell c800 series) that should also be good. 2) There shouldn't be an issue, you likely got confused from the T4x which has LCD cable based resolution detection. 3) I wouldn't recommend getting *TH...

Welcome to the forum! You did get the subforum correct.

I don't know exactly about this animation. It looks like it wants you turn on the machine. Look on the left of the machine there should be a slider with a white line on it. That will turn on the machine.

Its a "feature" to make sure MS lets you "use" their service exclusively. In true MS fashion!
Gotta make money somehow.
I'd figure they'd do that by sending all the private keys and passwords from anything in sandbox you do right to MS.

It is an interesting feature. It conflicts with VMware Workstation which I have been using to do these things since 1999 thereabouts. I did not realize this when I ran it, but when I exited the Sandbox, VMware would not start. I had to uninstall Sandbox and do a repair install in Workstation and it...

Doubt it given USB-C can supply voltage and current well beyond what normal USB can do.

The markforged printer had embedded carbon fiber strands which I know has properties superior to aluminum but I d...
