Only conflict arises if the R50 board has a firewire since there's no firewire hole in T40 chassis. Or if you put something else into an R50e, since R50e chassis is missing holes for certain ports (eg. S-Video, docking).

As much that I hate forums and this site's draconian rules (it's $CURRENT_YEAR+1 and you guys still have a rule about huge images? REALLY?), help me out. I just bought a T42p with a dead board and I'd like to get it going just for the heck of it. I already did a hybrid build of a R50e chassis with ...

Thinkpad4by3 thank you very much for your help! OK, i didn't know that my W520 has IPS panel.. interesting :) Well, i figured out some things searching the last hours. What i want is exactly this model (AUO B156HW01 v4). Actually an upgrade of my current LP156WD1 (1600x900). The original of course....

Thinkpad4by3 i didn't understand very well what you meant. I search for the screen using the FRU number. As you say they write at the descriptions that they'll send the exact model or something compatible if not found the exact. From the price i'm afraid about the quality of the screen. Also the po...

I have a feeling David Hill is going to give us a 4:3 LCD. https://www.adafruit.com/product/618 That should be enough resolution for photoshop. and a mechanical keyboard layout too. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1369/4793/files/G5aeTe7_480x480.jpg Yup, that should be a great improvement over the...

Pardon my ignorance, but what is re-pasting? Its where you remove the thermal paste and put new better stuff on. Thermal Paste allows the CPU to efficently conduct heat into the heatsink and fills the void if the surfaces dont exactly align. If you do repaste, know that thermal paste will be in you...

If you want to check power, you can use a kill a watt. Check the power consumption on the 65 watt and 90 watt adapters. If 65 reads 65+, the laltop draws 65+ watts. The 90 watt adapter should be 10% higher than the actual laptop because of the internal circuitries.

Yes, by disabling Secure Boot, I can set legacy mode. Am I right to think this is a good sign? Yes, it probably thinks 32 bit windows is like windows 95 and it preventing the execution of the 32 bit code. You'll have to replace the hinges, there's nothing else to be tried. I'm reasonably certain that if you post a WTB (want to buy) ad in the forum's Marketplace someone will come to the rescue, and most sellers around here are quite accommodating when it comes to various payment methods. I'd say 500-600$

100 for the ram
100 for the storage
200 for the screen
100 for the mobo
50 for everything else.

Maybe 100 for everything else if case is in good condition.

I have a laser thermometer, but it doesn't work well on metallic surfaces. I could try putting some thermo-resistant vinyl tape on top, but first I'm away for a week. Metallic surfaces may not work but those blue thermal pads could be accurate since they conduct heat well. Sent from my SM-G550T usi...

Buying a camera is excessive... I think a regular cooking thermometer measuring at the beginning, middle, and end of a pipe would work alright for this. It's not super necessary though. Laser thermometer? Theyre not expensive. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ktaxon-GM320-Non-Contact-Laser-IR-Infrared-Th...
